Films similar to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang... suggestions?

I thoroughly enjoyed this film and was looking for other films which also featured great characters, had an interesting/unique plot with twists that would surprise me, and finishes with a satisfying ending.

One other film that, off the top of my head, I think comes close is "Lucky Number Slevin". Both have that combination of really good actors who are given great dialogue combined with a VERY compelling story that has twists and turns you don't see coming. While both KKBB and Slevin have some violence, it isn't overly graphic, glorified or comes at the expense of the plot.

Any suggestions?

And please, no mentions of any Tarantino films.

Many thanks!

John Flynn's BEST SELLER - a massively underrated little film.

'What does it matter what you say about people?'
Touch of Evil (Orson Welles, 1958).

Seven Psycopaths (just came out this year, same director as In Bruges)

The last Boy Scout was written by the same guy. Shane black. But is more of an action movie featuring Bruce Willis as a private detective but it is a very good movie with great writing.

Another fabulous black comedy with many a plot twist is 'Shallow Grave', an early film by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later). The dialogue & interaction among its three protagonists is captivating (a young Ewan McGregor, Christopher Eccleston, Kerry Fox).

no one mentioned the usual suspects?

Oh man! Thanks so much for this post!

I caught bits of Shallow Grave once, and never could find what movie it was. What little I saw has stuck with me for years! Now I know what I'm watching tonight!

Surprised nobody mentioned The Alibi. It's a great con movie with noir elements and pretty funny.

Headhunters is fairly familiar.

Fear not the darkness, but welcome its embrace.
