Funny British TV series besides 'The IT Crowd'?

This show is so funny and brilliant! I thinks it's one of the funniest British TV series I've ever seen.
Hopefully there'll be a season 5!
Do you know anymore funny TV series? (I think "Black Books" is quite funny too, and of course the "Mr. Bean".)

British TV Series I like to watch

Only Fools and Horses
The Royal Family
The Inbetweeners
Two Pints of Lager
Vicar of Dibley
How not to Live your Life
Black Books
Blackadder

Just a few I watch off the top of my head. All of which make me laugh episode on episode.

Let me try this again...this is the best list...all others are the not so best lists.

I can name some of the best:

The Book Group (2 seasons)
Spaced
Happiness
Alan Partrigde (3 seasons)
Marion & Geoff (2 seasons, special is lame)
Black Books (3 seasons, IT Crowd writers, a few Spaced actors)
Saxondale
The Ofiice (of course)
Extras
Father Ted (IT Crowd Writer)
Big Train (IT Crowd writer, Spaced actors)
Manchild (some great actors)
A bit of Do (very serious comedy that 4 Weddings and a Funeral was also based off)
Jams (weird one only for someone who wants to see some of the slower and weirder skits ever made...the "unconcerned parents" is one of the best skits ever made...many of the actors from BigTrain)
League of Gentlemen
Only Fools and Horses (more cliche' sitcom than those listed above, but amaxing actors, done over many many years, with a very dedicated cast)
Faulty Towers (Monty Python crew)
Comic Strip (some really well done skits by many of the young ones crew)
Ripping Yarns (Monty Python crew)
Young Ones (many cheesy parts, but can be very funny)
Filthy Rich (Young ones group)
Bottom (horribly lowbrow and repetitive humor, but still can be amazing funny, the live show was very funny)
Ali G Sho
Wooster and Jeeves (Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie...just perfect)
A bit of Fry and Laurie (Fry and Laurie)
AbFab (predictable, but part of the Comicstrip crew, and based on her life)
Absolute Power (Stephen Fry)
Red Dwarf (corny sci-fi, first three seasons good)
Nighty Night (weird but funny)
The Goodlife (very dated and cheesy, but darned funny)
The New Statesmen (Young ones actor)
How do you Love me (Dylan Moran...a bit weird)
Monty Python (hit or miss, but one of the best at its time)
Dead Ringers (has some funny skits like Darth Vader at a cooking show or at a used car lot)
Little Britian (it has some of teh best skits...bitty skits always get me)
Angry Kid (not sure if this counts wierd skits of stop animation with guy in a mask)
Black Adder (not the best comedy, but can be rewarding)
Mr Bean (yeah...the movie was horrid the show is cheesy, but the show can be funny)
Whoops Apocolypse (just plain weird but good, possibly only can be found on torrent)
Allo Allo (very low humor, predictable, but soso)
The Dave Allen show (older funny Irish latenight show with some well done jokes)
The Dawn and French Show (more like Comic Stip and AbFab...not the best, but some really well done skits)

There you go. Shows to avoid...

Gavin and Stacey (horrid)
Coupling (very poorly done lowbrow friends rip off)
Are you Being Served (Allo Allo could have been this bad, but it had better actors and it was a better idea)
Torchwood (not a comedy, but the plots are laughable)
Not the 9'o clock News is pretty bland.

Finally someone mentioned Red Dwarf! Id say the first five seasons are ace, then it goes downhill fast when one of the serie's creators jumps off ship.

Don't breathe air. Birds *beep* in it!

reply

"Beautiful People" is even funnier as the IT Crowd seems to be a bit of a rip off of "Big Band Theory".

reply

Since IT Crowd came out before The Big Bang Theory, that would be kind of hard to do.

reply

Most of the ones I would list have already been posted.

But I'd add:

Gavin and Stacey
Friday Night Dinner
Outnumbered
Red Dwarf

Are You Being Served is probably still my favorite though. I've been watching it regularly since I was a kid, and it hasn't gotten old :)

I loved The IT Crowd, adds kept popping up for varies British TV shows on Hulu I finally decided to give Peep Show a try and I love it, so recommend that one

reply

I can't believe that no one has said Ffizz, this was an utterly brilliant bit of comedy.

reply

It's a shame that I had to read through like 30 posts before someone finally mentioned The Office (UK version). And noone else did it for the rest of the thread! It's just a clear indicator how useless this kind of threads are. Everybody just throws in every title he remembers without thinking.

reply

cant believe no one has said Time Gentlemen Please.by far my favorite.

reply

Agree Zee, how people aren't mentioned the greatest british sitcom ever made is amazing.

the office is just a masterpiece.

reply

Ideal!

'Yeah, well, you know that's just like, ah, your opinion man.'

reply

I admit I haven't watched too much British comedy, but Spaced is one of my favorite shows of all time. I don't think I've ever connected more with a show.

reply

Spaced, Teachers
