Name One Movie That Has a #5 Girl Get a Guy Who’s a #10?

Just asking. I think in Hollywood that would be considered Science Fiction. SWAMP THING does not count.

This is a matter of personal taste, but The Princess Bride. I've never found Robin Wright to be attractive, and Cary Elwes (especially in those days) had it all (and I'm a dude).

Hollywood does have a tendency for giving the little guy a chance, which is to be commendedSource:She's Out of My League - Movie Reviewshttp://moviereviews.noskram.com/2010/12/shes-out-of-my-league-movie-re views

Does it count if the chick is a #2?

Probably the most classic example would be the 1976 movie "Carrie". Socially, Carrie was yes...a -1, which wasn't her fault. However, in the looks dept., she did clean up very nicely....and was actually a lot prettier than most of the "mean" girls in that movie. OK, Chris Hargenson was cute...but in more of a trashy, shallow way.

Tommy Ross (William Katt), wasn't exactly a 10, but for the sake of the plot of the movie...he was supposed to be some godly football hero.

I actually found the budding romance, that was never meant to be, between Carrie and Tommie....very sweet. Tommy had the depth of character to look beyond what is cool, popular and conventionally "pretty"...and see the beauty of the person within.

Many find Minnie Driver not that beautiful, I'd say she's a 6-8, but still, Good Will Hunting ?

I can name two films in particular where the "Plain Jane"/Ugly girl gets a guy who looks better. As a straight guy, I don't really pay attention, but two films stand out, because I find them implausable. 1:"Some Kind Of Wonderful". Anyone who would choose Mary Stuart Masterson over Lea Thompson in her prime, must be wasted on something to begin with. Lea as a hottie from the 80's was surpassed only by Elisabeth Shue and Jami Gertz. However, as much as I find Masterson unappealing, she is Sophia Vergara compared to Janeane Garafalo in film #2, "The Truth About Cats And Dogs." The word, DOG describes Janeane Garafalo quite well. She is right up there as far as eternally ugly chicks are concerned (Somewhere between Rosie O'Donnell and Winona Ryder). Interesting enough, her and Ben Stiller were in "Cats & Dogs" and "Reality Bites" (With you guessed it Ryder). This film is without question, an all-time baddie, without a single redeeming factor (Until thinking about Garafalo & Ryder, I forgot all about "Reality Bites", and how much I detest this film). I don't like her looks, her politics, her voice, her attitude, or anything about her, I simply avoid anything that has Garafalo in it like the plague, and choosing her over Uma Thurman like in "Cats & Dogs"? That would never happen with me in 1,000,000,000 years.

In my opinion Mary Stuart Masterson is better-looking than Lea Thompson. Well, was, back then.

And Jami Gertz? Hottie? Really??

Jay Baruchel isn't a 5 either in real life, only in the context of the film.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned this one: Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging!

The main character is really plain (not just by Hollywood standards, but by real-life standards, too - big nose, plump chin, etc.) but she ends up with Aaron Johnson's hot "Prince Charming" character! It was refreshing to see because I don't know a single hot high school guy who would go for the weird-looking, quirky girl in real life. It's a great movie (it's a British movie based on a teen book.)
