Difficult to believe this is the same director as the remake of Dawn of the Dead

I thought Dawn of the Dead was one of the best zombie movies ever to come down the pike for reasons too numerous to mention here, and conversely, Army of the Dead was one of the very worst for so many reasons it would take a book to go into them.

•“Alpha” zombies that can impregnate each other? Give me a break.
•They hire a safe cracker, but the guy they’re busting into the safe for has the combination!
•A character is within shouting distance able to warn the others of treachery but she doesn’t.
•Weird glowing blue eyed robot zombies.
•If all they needed was a zombie head all they had to do was send in a team to do that then leave - no need for the whole safe cracking nonsense.
•Speaking of which, nearly 4,000 lbs of $100 bills they’re supposed to fit in an old rusty helicopter alongside their own doomed ass’s.
•They’re about to get nuked in 20 minutes and they spend 30 minutes getting out of there, monologuing and what not.
•The head zombie is back at the casino yet somehow manages to jump on his magic zombie horse and arrives across town at the same time as the helicopter
•Heating up a zombie hand to lure another into a trap ‘cause it’s the heat they like - well, it’s really hot outside so I guess they stay busy attacking each other.
•Helicopters that explode with fire so bad they require an extinguisher that then fly fine with no repair necessary.
•Zombie tigers but no zombie squirrels or rabbits or rats or …
•Climbing out of a hole at ground zero but no radiation to worry about.
•Being bitten but taking nearly a day to even realize it or to start to zombify when everybody else changes in a matter of minutes.

It just goes on and on.

This wasn’t a movie, it was an embarrassment.

You didn’t pay attention all that well.

Only one character wants the zombie head, everyone else has been duped....including the entire “getting into the safe” plot, they were duped.

He didn’t turn right away because it was the softest of flesh wounds.

You were okay with the Zombie baby in Dawn 04’? But a zombie fetus is crossing the line? Umm okay

The point was why bother at all in duping anyone. It was obviously very easy to get into Vegas. Just send a team in to get the head. Didn't even need the heist.

He didn’t turn right away because it was the softest of flesh wounds.

The depth of wound is irrelevant. A bite or a scratch is enough.

She was pregnant before being bitten.

Why would a team of strangers agree to risk their lives for a freaking head? Come on dude, I know you’re not actually this retarded.

The depth of the wound is very relevant in how fast a person would turn, a bigger gapping wound would cause you to bleed out faster, thus turning you faster.

Because all it took was two people to get the head. The coyote and the company man. They didn't even need a team to retrieve the head.

reply

Who’s flying the helicopter out? Wouldn’t you want extra people as an insurance policy to make sure the job gets done? How are they being paid? How do you even know it’s just that easy before even attempting it?

They are crunched on time.

reply

LOL... dude they could have come out the way they came in (via the Coyote leading them through the boxes).

And then once they leave the city they just have a private helicopter pick them up outside the quarantine zone since it's a no-fly-zone inside that area.

Literally, what they needed to do was a 10/20-minute job at tops and only required two people and a helicopter OUTSIDE the quarantine zone. That's it. They could have done that once everyone in the quarantine zone evacuated.

Thanks for taking care of the reply for me.

Hot take: Dawn of the Dead remake is better than the original.

I was thinking the same thing. Snyder used to be a somewhat competent film maker. This was just amateur hour dog shit. WTF was up with the constant out of focus shots? The dialogue was god awful. Every character and I mean every character STINKS! I got an hour in and had to give up. Worst movie of the year so far.

reply

Gave up after an hour? How old are you, like 12 years old?

reply

Maybe he's not 12 years old and that's why he checked out.

reply

Leave them. They cannot be saved.

reply

Yeah because when someone values their time and feels it's being wasted by watching a shitty ass movie and then they stop watching said shitty ass movie before it ends, it must mean they're 12. Nice logic you little cuck. And lol at staunch Army of the Dead defenders running around all butt hurt because a random internet stranger took a dump all over their beloved zombie movie. You little weirdos are almost as bad as the K Pop psychos.

reply

You watched an hour, gave up, then came here to declare it as the worst movie of the year. That sounds like the actions of a teenager to me.

Yeah a 12 year old who values his time? Haha good one. I bet you live a very productive life.

reply

And you going on here screaming at people and insulting them because they didn't finish a shitty movie sounds like small dick, low T, school shooter behavior. You're fucking creepy.

reply

Why? Dawn wasn't that good, either.

reply

From the crazy opening sequence through the stunning Johnny Cash song to the found footage shots at the end “Dawn of the Dead“ was a masterpiece, and when compared to “Army,” transcendentally so.

reply

Absolutely.

Army of the Dead is painfully bad, Snyder just keeps getting worse.

reply

It's when he writes, and has total control, that's when the problems begin.

He should stick to filming other peoples scripts, and needs someone to reign him in

Maybe he's past it, he is getting on a bit now. I'm just thinking that he used up all the good ideas in his first few films, which I did like.

Dawn of the Dead remake.

Dawn of the dead had a different writer. Snyder put slow motion on a toilet being thrown. Its believable and Dawn of the Dead is still more fun.

I liked Dawn too.

I actually liked it as much as the original - they're so completely different that there's hardly any comparison

But what stings a bit here is that Snyder might well have intended this to be a sequel to his Dawn of the Dead and still made a mess of it
