Fueling speculation that Disney+ may be mulling a content expansion beyond family fare, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has acknowledged that the forthcoming series featuring Moon Knight has a harder edge. The upcoming Disney+ MCU series stars Oscar Isaac as the vigilante. Moon Knight streams on Disney+ from March 30. “He’s brutal,” Feige tells the online movie magazine Empire. “It’s been fun to work with Disney+ and see the boundaries shifting on what we’re able to do. There are moments [in the series] when Moon Knight is wailing on another character, and it is loud and brutal, and the knee-jerk reaction is, ‘We’re gonna pull back on this, right?’ No. We’re not pulling back. There’s a tonal shift. This is a different thing. This is Moon Knight.”

That's not a selling point, dude.

Why not? Some people like darker and more violent shows.

People like Marvel films because they're escapist fare, something that can be enjoyed by young and old, nerd and mundane alike. They're popular because they guarantee suspense, adventure, laughs, and a happy ending, and never demand that the viewer do too much thinking, and never disturb the viewer with sex or too much violence.

Frankly, I like my escapism on the less violent side, and well. The mainstream has been paying big bucks for fantasy violence for 15 years now, maybe that's what the mainstream likes as well.

Daredevil and other r-rated shows in the MCU did fine on Netflix and have recently moved to Disney+ with rumors of more seasons. Moon Knight should do fine.
