Did Donnie Yen's blindness inconsistency bother you?

There were many times where he was able to pinpoint someone a decent distance away from him, and kill him. I understand when you lose a sense, your other senses become heightened, but he always managed to find someone a big distance away as quickly as possible.

Sure, kind of like how Keanu's gun aim wavered all over the place during some of the distance gunfights (the stairway scene in particular was noticable), yet he was still landing perfect headshots. Just watch closely and you'll see what I mean. Some of those shots were nowhere near lined up. Magic bullets baby! No reshoots to fix. Just go with it.

The thing that bothered me with the Caine character was how he at times couldn't find things right next to him, like the drink on the tray offered to him, but was magically able to know exactly where everything else was in order to use his sword on it. It was nice to see Donnie getting work though. He is really good at what he does.

I noticed some missed shots on the hotel rooftop scene at night. One was blatant where Keanu was grappling with a guy so he spun around a little and shot nowhere near the guy and he went down to the ground.

Didn’t see it.

Well played.

Not really. It's somewhat implied he's using some like, Monk higher plane fourth dimension abilities that he willingly traded his eyes for. But what did bother me is guns are absolutely deafening and as soon as you pop off a couple rounds, you're gonna have no clue whatsoever what's going on around you. He's still in a human body with human ears.

I get that he has a heightened sense, but he was able to target guys with a gun with perfection. I would prefer if he had a gun that made noise the closer he was to a moving target.

This is not exclusive to this movie. There are plenty of examples of the blind martial arts badass being able to fight without any noticeable handicap. Stick from Datedevil, Rutger Howard in Blind fury and Denzel in Book of Eli come to mind, but there are definitely more.

I know Zatoichi does this too. My biggest problem was the aim of his gunshots with multiple people. If someone was watching his scenes and didn't see the film from beginning to end, they probably wouldn't even know he was blind. I think they should have used that sensor thing he used in the kitchen scene more.

For sure there are ways to portray it better, but this series never cared about realism. I had more issues with the concept that quickly pulling your coat in front of your face, regardless of the material, making you immune to any type of shot. Even if they dont penetrate, bulleys still have mass and velocity. His coat didn't even move, that's aside from the fact that half his head was still stocking out. This is like the Fastn Furious series. Best to just turn off your brain and enjoy some snacks while you watch.

I found it strange that he had this suit before but didn't start blocking shots until now. But yes, the material of his suit was thin and was stopping every piece of artillery that came his way.
