Russell Crowe Razzie Winner 2023

Worst Supporting Actor for sure this Zeus portrayal is unfaithful to the comics and a total bastardisation of Greek Pantheon

reply

He was so fucking bad in this I felt embarassed.

reply

I enjoyed his performance. It was fun and worked for what it was supposed to be.

reply

I’m with you bro. People complain way too much on this board. What they expected? A beautiful Mind?

reply

I actually did expect ‘A Beautiful Mind’, but then I walked into the wrong auditorium, so it was my fault really.

reply

I get the wrong entrance all the time too. Just last night my wife slapped me about it.

reply

He was deliberately hamming it as a pompous narcissist who is out of touch with reality. I loved this interpretation of the character.

reply

If you've ever been on holiday to Australia, that is exactly how Greek comedians speak, but I think it was more prevalent in the 80's.

Considering half the cast is from that part of the world with Taika Waititi always wanting to promote his Kiwi culture and Hemsworth Aussie as well I guess it makes sense?

It appears his humour hasn't translated to the rest of the world though.

reply

He's like in an awkward state between Jim Carrey's over-the-top-ness and Sean Penn's over-acting. Also, what's with the accent?

reply

Αn attempt for Greek accent it sounds more like RussoItalian and I am Greek...

reply

I was expecting him to go

“ITSA ME, ZEUS!!!”

reply

That blond girl with him was a babe.

reply

It was cringeworthy, for sure. I thought his choice of accent was odd, too. I wonder if he had to work out for months like Hemsworth to “beef up” for the role.

reply

It was pretty cringeworthy but kind of amusing in a stupid way. He definitely hammed it up quite a bit. Not sure why they made Zeus such a quirky and obnoxious bully, I guess so that he doesn’t appear better than Odin or something.
