S01-EP1 .55 (18-49) - 2.17 mil viewers
shareIs that good or bad?
shareIt's worse than the original GofT premiere, which would be bad since that had no connection to a prior hit show -- but viewing habits have changed a lot since then. Appointment television isn't what it used to be, and HBO Max isn't part of this tally, which is why HBO released that 10mil viewer number prior to the final national ratings.
shareOr, there are folks like me who are content to wait until most of the season is out, then get a membership and binge watch.
shareThanks!
shareIt has a connection to a prior show that had a disastrous finale, so you have to take that into account. If the show had ended differently, there would surely be more hype about a spinoff. It's kind of the difference between Batman Returns coming out as a sequel to Batman, and Batman Begins coming out after Batman and Robin and Batman forever.
shareS01-EP4 .41 (18-49) - 1.8 mil viewers
Improvement over last week's big dip, but the ratings have not returned to the level of the first 2 eps.
S01-EP5 .42 (18-49) - 1.829 mil viewers
Up slightly from the prior episode, but still has not returned to peak levels.
How does it compare to Rings of Power?
shareRings of Power is streaming only, while we have HBO for HofD. We only have the numbers Amazon gives us until the new Nielsen ratings for streaming are revealed. And despite what some around here have said, it's hard to compare them since there's only been self-reporting for total viewership. The slice I post above is independent of the self-reporting in their press releases. Those are from Nielsen.

S01-EP7 .43 (18-49) - 1.883 mil viewers
Mixed bag this week. Slight decrease in the demo, but another slight increase in total viewers.
Yeah I haven't touched cable TV in a decade. It's all about the streaming and watching TV through the Internet. There's no way HBO or anyone is able to count how many people are gathered around a television set either. For all they know I had 20 people gathered at my house to watch Episode 1.
Nevermind those who will only watch once a season or even series is completed.
