Dopesick rippoff?

Limited Netflix series based on the Purdue Pharma Opioid epidemic. How is this not exactly like "Dopesick" 2022 on Hulu

reply

Watched the trailer & the entire time, I was thinking, ''I've definitely seen this''

reply

It's possible to re-tell a "true story" without being a ripoff

It's how we got both Ashton Kutcher in "Jobs" and Michael Fassbender in "Steve Jobs"

Or Amanda Seyfried playing Elizabeth Holmes on Hulu while Jennifer Lawrence is doing so on AppleTV (if they ever finish it)

EDIT: Oops, appears J-Law backed out after seeing Seyfried's performance

reply

The bankruptcy proceedings of Purdue Pharma seemed to reached an end in March 2022.

There could be some new materials available to use after that.

I remember there was also another Oxycontin miniseries. The subject is played out.

reply

Not as good though.

I watched this before Dopesick. Dopesick is much better.
