What about this story appealed so much to the Obamas that they decided to produce it?

It must have been something very important to them. Kind of an odd move to suddenly go into movie production. Why this film?

Not sure, perhaps they know someone and want to help them. But the scenario of the movie - attack of foreign country: just cutting off communication by hacking and doing some minimal terrorist attacks and misinformation, so the country starts their own civil war and do their own coup de tat - supposedly the cheapest way to fuck up a country.
Is a kinda political scenario
The countermessage is 'our vulnerability is our divisiveness, don't start a civil war'

Besides that i really like the movie, i think it's an artistic movie that's about the characters, and about this situation they are in of mostly not knowing. And realistic characters, realistic choices, and i don't see it as a political movie at all

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

The Obamas produced it ,
That accounts for the flurry of outraged trumper threads with all the usual buzzwords.

I think the book was on his list of favorite books of some year, but from what I heard, the cyberattack thing was not originally in the book. This is not the first Obama produced movie. Looks like cinema is his new hobby.

I didn't see Obama's name among the producers. Did I miss it, he used a fake name, or is part of some company?

That may also account for the incredible number of foreign language tracks, apparently produced at the same time as the film.

Must be some globalist theme woven in there. Something they want us to think, e.g. "The animals are warning us" or "We are all on our own now" as a bad thing said by the evil prepper played by Kevin Bacon.

Or another example of bragging about what they're going to do to us.
