Who is your favorite athlete?

reply

Don’t have one, honestly

Are we talking track and field athletics athlete or just at the Olympics?

And are we talking all time or this particular Olympics?

reply

Whatever athlete you want

I think it's hard to look beyond Carl Lewis.

But, in context of pressure / expectation/ national importance probably the greatest single moment was Cathy Freeman winning in Sydney...

In this Olympics, it's Simone Biles. She's made an incredible comeback from the controversy of the Tokyo games. The explosive physical power, coordination, and grace in this 4'8" frame is stunning! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtQDcjST184

A follow up:USA women's gymnastics team bringing home the gold! These young women have been extraordinary to watch performing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPwZBpSVnQQ

I think what Ryan Crouser did today--winning the gold medal in the shot put for the 3rd Olympics in a row--was really, really impressive. My late college roommate threw the shot put and discus for the track team...it really takes a lot of strength and technique to throw them well.

If I had disposable income, I'd pay good money just to have the U.S. male shot putters follow me around for just one day. Man, those guys are huge... nobody would be messing with me if they were around! 😀

Females that beat trannies to death.

All time... that's a tough call, but I really miss watching Usain Bolt run. He just had a way of running that was incredible to watch. It was like watching Barry Sanders or Randy Moss in the NFL, or Albert Pujols when he played for St. Louis...you knew you were watching greatness when you watched him run.

I just watched the replay of the 4 x 400 mixed relay. What an incredible anchor leg by Femke Bol of The Netherlands. That was really impressive... kudos to her.

reply

I have never seen anything like that in my life. I was cheering. Vive Femke Bol.
