whats next for David Gordon Green?

Jason or Freddy ?

or maybe he could have a crack at Terminator (ignoring everything that came after the first horror movie)

Psycho reboot/sequel (although with recasts due to Anthony Perkins dying back in 1992).

Takes place 60 years following the events of Psycho and ignores the sequels. Lila Crane still has trouble moving on from her sister Marion's murder at the Bates Motel back in 1960 and is haunted by the memory of Norman Bates. When she hears an elderly Norman is being released from the institution, she plans her revenge against the man who has ruined her life for over half a century.

I could see him doing Psycho 5..(or 6 if you count the remake) as like Exorcist, Halloween it fits the 1st iconic landmark horror film followed by inferior follow ups (although I think P2 is highly regarded)

Friday13 and even Nightmare Elm St (maybe) aren't really in the same league classic status as Halloween, Exorcist and Psycho

reply

I don't think he could do a "legacy sequel" to Psycho for the simple fact that everyone involved in the original 1960 film is now dead. He couldn't do his Halloween/Exorcist gimmick of bringing back Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates and then claiming Psycho II, III, and IV "never happened".

reply

True but with cg/df Perkins could be recreated for an end cameo (something like the end of the Candyman reboot/The Force Awakens or this new Exorcist ..where the main legacy character is missing until right at the end..)

reply

Vera Miles is alive but she is 94 and hasn't done a movie in 28 years. Who knows what her health could be like at that age? Maybe it's worth a phone call for David. The most they could do is say "no."

reply

The Exorcist Kills followed by The Exorcist Ends.

reply

Too bad Piper Laurie passed away at 91.. DGG could've trotted her out for the Reboot of CARRIE with the "CARRIE LEGACY" like he's doing with the EXORCIST??

reply

I think he's done, he had one original idea about making elderly women the leads in horror reboots and it does not seem to have taken.

reply

He'll probably do one last attempt with bringing back Heather Langenkamp for Nightmare Elm St (ignoring everything except the 1st film) and then done (plus bringing back Englund for close ups, stuntman/CG for everything else. and maybe Depp will be up for another cameo)

Nightmare is too big and still in the pop culture to not give it a go (plus HL is still relatively young at 60 like JLC in Halloween'18)

The Exorcist sequels will either be cancelled or another director will take over

reply

Exorcist has no choice but a remake now. Sad to say but it's the truth, right now was the best chance and he went woke.
I agree, he would likely go with Nightmare and do exactly what you say he would. But I'm not sure the studio would let him considering how badly Ends and Exorcist have done.

A Nightmare sequel is possible right now before Englund is in his 80's and not interested. You couldn't have him running around or chasing people down, hopefully someone else gets that directing/writing gig.

reply

I guess the remaining Exorcist sequels could now be done extra cheap, new no name director, release in Halloween month for 2w followed by stream for actual Oct 31 (like they planning with this one). Meanwhile DGG will do final horror 'legacy sequel' with Nightmare or Friday13 with the intention of a trilogy ,(but he no direct the sequels, in fact he might not even direct the first one just produce now he's bombed out twice )

The legal problems with the Friday the 13th franchise have been cleared up...
