Can we all now admit....this was really just.....boring?

I wanted to love it, I really did.
But it was way too long....and just kinda boring.

It was slow for sure. My favorite scenes were those of Pacino. He was terrific and amusing. Other than that , it didn't live up to the hype. De-aging Deniro was a joke and that really alienated me.

I used to think that 'Goodfellas' was interesting and 'Casino' was boring. Now I'm older and it's totally the other way around. Now I've seen Casino and Goodfellas so many times that I prefer watching Irishman.

THE OLDER WE GET...THE MORE BORING OF STUFF WE ENJOY.

Wanna see Pesci and Deniro in a good Scorcese gangster film together? CASINO is where its at!

While I did enjoy watching The Irishman, I havent watched it a second time yet. Whereas Casino I have watched sometimes two or three times in the same week.

I’ll never understand how people can…”enjoy”….Casino. I saw it once, in the theater, and I will never watch it again. The two scenes I wish I could un-see, and erase from my memories:

The head in the Vice scene…..and the scene where they made Joe Pesci’s character watch, while they beat his brother with a baseball bat and buried him alive.

I hate that movie.

I tend to turn away from the vice scene, the baseball bat scene is pretty bad too and worse yet they buried them when they werent quite dead yet. Also the pen scene, right at the films beginning, had me squeamish for awhile.

The parts in Casino I enjoy are mostly the dialogue and situations in the movie that are humorous or interesting. For a violent gangster film its very funny and the characters are actually likeable despite the despicable actions they take. For example Nikki Santoro (Joe Pesci) is a violent man yet there is a scene where he threatens and intimidates a man because he finds out the guy gambled his pay away and his wife and children at home are sitting there in the Vegas night without the heat on. He tells the guy "if youre honest with me and tell me you gambled all that money away Ill give you the money to turn the heat back on" then he tells him "If I find out you gambled again I'll leave you (kill you) where I find you".

Then theres the scene where Sam Ace Rothsteins (Robert Deniro) secretary phones him to tell him he has a visitor to his office. Sam tells her "Wait a couple a minutes and then send him in" and you see Sam get up from his desk and see he has no pants on XDDDD and he walks to a closet in his office to put on a pair of pants! Hey I guess thats howto show you are successful, you can sit in your office without pants if you like xD

Sam talking about how Nikki was treating Vegas like it was the wild west and the montage of robberies and aftermath due to Nikki was exciting.

And the entire narration in the beginning telling about how the Mob got a Casino and the players involved was interesting. The setting of old Las Vegas itself is interesting.

Say what you want about Casino, it aint boring!

Even looking into some of the real history, Nikki Santoro was based on Anthony "The Ant" Spilotro. Turns out Joe Pesci actually did look like the real guy its based off of and when in full makeup they entered a casino and a Pit Boss (who lived and worked during the time of the real events) actually fainted because he thought "OMG Anthonys back". Thats how much of a terror this dude was to be around for some people.

Very boring

Deniro putting hits on ppl at his age looked ridiculous

reply

Retards can ‘admit’ it’s boring but to anyone with an adult attention span and a fragment of good taste it’s another masterpiece from Scorsese.

The Irishman really sifts the men from the boys.

reply

Based on how worked-up you’re getting, we will assume you’re the latter.

reply

Well, no, because the ‘boys’ are the ADD morons who couldn’t appreciate the film and found it ‘boring’, remember? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think for those who go in expecting Casino and Goodfellas yes, or even Scarface. But if you go in familiar with Scorsese's body of work or simply watch it a 2nd time (get Goodfellas and Casino expectations out of your system), it's good.

Of course there are issues like the de-aging and ages of the actors. But we're all here just to see all 4 in 1 film.
