Okay so I didn’t know anything about this story but, I cannot believe that she was found not guilty! In her testimony, she claimed that Betty hit her head with the axe and in self defense, she killed Betty with the axe. Are you kidding me?!?! Candy had no visible markings on her head; no bruises or swelling. Plus if someone hits with an axe, I’m sure it would make you unconscious and fall on the floor. There is NO way, she would have the strength to hit someone with the axe 28 times after getting hit in the head. She was clearly lying and the prosecutor completely botched the case!!

Then after she hacked her with the axe, she took a shower and went about her day like nothing happened (also leaving the screaming baby there all day). Seems to me she would have called the authorities. She made herself appear guilty by not doing so. Botched case by the prosecutor.

The prosecutors were focusing on her past affairs that had nothing to do with the case. They should focused on her getting axed in the head; since she was clearly lying about it. If they could prove that she was lying, they probably would have won the case.

Yes I was quite shocked she was not found guilty as well.
They should have gotten in front of the court and did 42 whacks of the axe on a dummy - like the husband did on the stump - to get a good realization of what occurred.

Honestly, if the prosecutor charged her with murder, I could see a jury voting not guilty. I mean she told multiple people she was heading over to betty's house the morning of and the weapon used came from Betty's garage. If she was plotting murder, that's beyond sloppy.

Now if it's manslaughter, it basically comes down to her word vs the evidence. A good lawyer could(and clearly did) get her off under those circumstances.

The trial in Love & Death makes it more believable. That is, if the event between Candy and Betty happened the way it did in the show.

Candy did have some cuts/missing nails as evidence of a struggle.

Again, if it happened the way it did in the show, Candy just went to pick up a swimsuit and Betty came at her with an axe. Candy obviously overdid it, but acted in self-defense. If the jury had an option for "overkill self-defense," that would be appropriate. But it wasn't murder.
