kids orgy?

I haven't read the novel but apparently it contains an orgy involving the kids. I assume that's not making the film.

It isn't an orgy but it's still messed up. We're lost in these sewers and we need the strength to go on, we need to reconnect as a group... So I'll screw these boys one at a time to show the love our group holds. Um, what? How can anyone like or "appreciate" that scene in the book?? I get what it's trying to represent but it did it in the weirdest, most perverted way.

When I read the book I was scratching my head like "wtf was that for?"

then recommended the book to a friend who read it and brought up not just he thought it was totally unnecessary but also asked a teacher of him who also read the book about it and s/he (have no idea about the teachers gender) said it was so out of place as well, in fact we all agreed it was the most unnecessary and not needed part in the book.

but maybe we are all stupid.

..or having a bunch of kids to come inside of their female friend as an idea of "strengthening bonds" is just a ridiculously bad idea.

imagine them feeling distant and shít, but then they remember how good was to bang beverly, and they are like "hell yeah, bros, we had her" *fist bump*

lets not forget they were just in a sewer smeared with feces to the ear with no protection..brilliant. for some reason I think even King is embarrassed about it now, though I would like to hear his thoughts about it.
