Mutt Williams' fate (spoilers)

I am sorry, but I laughed so hard when I saw the scene of Indiana looking at the store window TVs and hearing "he had lost his son". Of course, Disney killed Shia LaBeouf off screen like a dog for his bad behavior (if he had been playing nice and had been accepted 100% by audiences, he could have taken the place of the girl and join Indy in his last adventure). But no, he had to be put down like a rabid stray dog and used as a plot drive for Indy to justify his grumpiness.

Still, super funny in my opinion.

I understand people didn't like his character but that was too sad. Should have just had it mentioned that he went to live overseas and hadn't written to either of his parents in a long time. Maybe have Marion show Indy a letter she'd recieved from Mutt while he was traveling around. Frankly they should have just ignored the 4th film and act like it never happened.

Better yet, they should do like I do... just ignore the 4th AND FIFTH films, and act like NEITHER of them happened!

Indy rides off into the sunset with his dad. THE END of the Indy TRILOGY. YES!

After Shia bad mouthed Crystal Skull, not just the movie but the making of it (I think he was even critical of Spielberg's directing), his fate was sealed .. (Spielberg must've been like 'he don't like being in Indiana Jones huh?, well maybe his character died before the 5th one then')

reply

I think it's totally possible that Mutt being dead was Spielberg's idea.

reply

Well his name was Mutt so its apt he was put down like a rabid dog

You're really easily amused.

What else were you expecting that it struck you as so funny?

The dial of destiny sends Indy to the events of The Last Crusade and he is actually the guy who bones Alisson Doody, not Sean Connery.

I laughed reading this post. As I totally forgot about that Mutt character and He Was A Son Of Indy? What? LOL.

I watahced that Scull and Aliens "Indy 4" movie once and I dont remember any plot and who was Shia LaBeouf playing. I thought he was some nephew or something. Or random dude - son of friend. He was actually a real life son of Indiana Jones? I thought Shia LaBeouf was so bad and uninteresting in this that they just abandoned his characters and people didnt resonate with him when producers were thinking to reboot franshise with Shia LaBeouf as new Indiana Jones like character. But then everyone hated the movie and those plans were put to rest.

So when he mentioned: "I lost a son" i was like: "What? He had a son? When? With whom?"

And when that elderly woman showed up at the end I had no idea who she is. I thought she must be some his love interest from previous movies.

The writing here is weak and brainless from LucasFilms. Given where their relationship was in the end of Crystal Skull it would be just as believable if Mutt joined up to make his father proud because Indiana Jones was not a hippie pacifist. A World War-one era father would not be upset if his son took on the uniform.

I guess there is also the question of how a Mutt born in 1937 got killed in 'Nam. Mutt is 20 the first time we meet him in Crystal Skull and so the last year he could have enlisted was in 1966 at the age of 29. Forgive me for stating the obvious, but 29-year-olds with Daddy Issues don't enlist in the Marines.
