One thing occured to me as I read the IMDB reviews for this show ...

All the realistic honest reviews were 1's, 2's and 3's ... the lowest ratings. All the clear and logical reasons this show sucks.

One reviewer opined "All of the 9 and 10 star reviews on here look like press releases written by people who worked on the show."

This is true now everywhere on everything. On Amazon reviews for products. It's all over the newspapers, even after everyone is talking about censorship.

The basic theme - to keep individual citizens/consumers from sharing their experiences and thoughts so inferior and even toxic realities can be foisted on them to keep incompetents in jobs they are unable to do.

reply

If this is true, then why do tons of shows on IMDB that are clearly highly commercially marketed have low user scores?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9794044/

IMDB is owned by Amazon. Citadel is Amazon's baby. They want to make a franchise out of it. It has a 6.3 rating on IMDB. If everything is just about censorship, and promoting incompetence and hoisting realities on people - then why does Citadel have such a low rating on the site? Why hasn't Amazon flubbed the numbers?

reply

Wait, are you defending a company which intentionally censored reviews for that Rings of power series? Are you so far out of your mind that you believe whatever shit is posted on iMDB except movie credits?

reply

Yes, and even then RoP hasn't been able to get above 6.9.

Why hasn't Citadel managed a good rating if it's all rigged?

reply

That shows that even rigged, the thing blows.

reply

Why would Amazon rig an *Apple TV show* (Silo) but not apparently their own show (Citadel)?

See the problem with the logic employed here?

reply

No, what I'm saying is that both are rigged, but the degrees to which they are rigged shows that even so, people still hate the shows enough that Citadel still fared worse than Silo.

It's like a cheater won by rigging the votes over another cheater. It's not that neither cheated, it's that one was hated enough that their cheats managed to eke out a slight victory over the other cheater.

>No, what I'm saying is that both are rigged, but the degrees to which they are rigged shows that even so, people still hate the shows enough that Citadel still fared worse than Silo.

And how do you know they are "rigged"?

What about if I source data from TVDB, Trakt.tv, Simkl or Serializd? You can get similar scores on every TV site.

reply

Yes, this is true in many cases. For example you can see the movie "Una great movie", that is an indie movie, but even in that one's case there are plenty of fake reviews giving 10 ponts to the movie. Probably friends of the movie creator. The fake reviews are usually easy to spot.

You also have to realize that a long time ago, on IMDB there was a way to sort reviews by "best" so that you could see the reviews that got the most amount of likes and least amount of dislikes. That is no longer the case, they replaced the option with the "featured reviews" option - where they will show you what they want you to see.

Yeah, but my broader point was that any thing that works develops into a technique, and then a technology, and it gets monitized and applied in other areas, like media, TV, Radio, News, Journalism, Publications, and lie technology has to be hidden or it doesn't work. So these lies, this system based on lies has to expand to fill up as much reality as it can, and normalized so people accept it and do not question it.

reply

Well could be, but they are doing a really poor job of making their lies seem real.

reply

Fake reviews aren't relevant here. Products have fake reviews. Everything has fake reviews. I can cherrypick shitty 1 star reviews too.

Silo has a good IMDB userscore.

There is a fascinating book I just started reading called "The AI Delusion" by Gary Smith that covers stuff like this. Considering that technologies like this are not going to be public, and are probably 10-20 years in advance to what is out there in the public, the weirdness in our country could very well be due to social network and media manipulation. I've thought this for years, and there are going to be two outcomes of this. One is where they win and the masses of humanity just become programmed cattle. The other is where the BS we've all been subject to is revealed, and the extent to how they have manipulated the economy and citizens, and it overturns the government and private sector and claws back all their ill-gotten-gains.

reply

Just change it to prolific reviewers!

Fake reviews have been a problem for IMDb and they don't care. I even made the case for the movie Gully on their community board. It is an average movie, but some moronic Russian Johnny Depp fans voted tons of 1s just because Amber Heard is in it, like for a 2 minutes screen time. IMDb agreed that something fishy is going on and they will take care. They didn't. At least they kept it out of the bottom list.

The case with Silo is a bit different. It is based on a very popular book series and the fanboys are pushing it higher. Its realistic rating is around 7.5 now. I subtract 1 from the ratings of modern movies and 2 for movies based on popular (comic) books.

IMDB sucks. When I go looking for reviews, all I can see are the top few reviews. I cannot even read my own review unless I go to edit it, and then if no one else can read it, how will it ever get see and perhaps raised up as a favorite? It won't. Something similar with Amazon reviews now too I think. You cannot go scrolling through miles of reviews and comments. You just see a few.
