Upcoming 'men are bad' flick?

Uber driver and aspiring bodybuilder Ralphie is inducted into a libertarian masculinity cult and loses his grip on reality when his repressed desires are awakened.

'Masculinity cult' = bad

Manodrome

I wonder what these 'repressed desires' are?

I could be wrong who knows it could be a celebration of masculinity but I wouldn't bet on it in this day and age, seems like another in the long line of men are bad films.

'Masculinity cult' ?

Is feminism a 'femininity cult' or is cult reserved for referring to groups of nasty men?

reply

FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN HERE?...YES...FEMINAZI IS A COMMON TERM I HAVE SEEN COUNTLESS TIMES.

reply

Perhaps there's a reason for why you in particular see this term countless times. Search for the answers within.

Well Hitler was bad and he was a man.

SO WAS THAT DAHMER GUY.

Mistaking the forest for a few trees I see. Tell me, are all men in "masculinity" cults or behave like red pill buffoons?

Typical incel click bait post.

reply

Hollywood are pumping out a lot of these masculinity bad flicks aren't they? That Olivia Wilde movie and 'Men' last year and of course that Joker girlfriend movie. All of these films tackle the same subject and made next to nothing at the Box Office but keep trying and hope something sticks I guess...

It's from a South African director so maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised??

reply

I looked up the director... ruh roh!

From wikipedia;

John Trengove (born March 21, 1978) is a South African film director, known for The Wound (2017), a controversial film which tracks a closeted relationship between two men in the context of the Xhosa initiation ritual.

Trengove was scheduled to speak at TLVFest in Tel Aviv in 2017. His film The Wound opened the festival program. Several days prior to opening he pulled out of the festival, cancelling his speech, citing his identification with the cultural boycott of Israel.

So his previous film was about two gay dudes in (tribal?) Africa, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wound_(2017_film) , and he's openly outspoken against Israel.

I'm now wondering if this film will be about homosexuality? These 'repressed desires' that the protagonist has. So this could be a pro LGBT film as opposed to a man bashing film.

reply

>I wonder what these 'repressed desires' are?

To be in complete control of his life. Unfortunately, this is practically impossible, as he finds out.

Weird fantasy...

I might be wrong, but, I think this is some weird fetish fantasy of people who imagine boys clubs like Proud Boys, Jason Donovan's tribe, Men's rights movements, lobsters, MGTOW,... indulging in extreme misogyny. It is an interesting projection which reveals itself everyday in their articles on MSM, social networks or places like Medium. This is sort of a horror movie which validates all of their fears. It's trendy to do this kind of explorations. "Morning Show" portrays Elon Musk as a ruthless billionaire. "Don't Worry Darling" portrays Jordan Peterson as some evil mastermind with dark secrets. What they can't achieve in real life, they turn into propaganda movies. It's a coping mechanism. So... there is a lot of value in this kind of work. It's psychology 101.

My expectations of this movie were quite high, but were crushed within the hour...

This story of an insecure and mentally stressed male who joins a group of men to bond and to become strong and proud again, may sound exciting or thrilling but the opposite is true, because this is merely a SLOWburning character portrait (and not a good one).

This flick is probably only suited for a patient arthouse movie crowd, and NOT suited for an action movie crowd at all, who might have been misled by the trailer, expecting another Fight Club or Taxi Driver.
