The film had its world premiere at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in the country of London on February 15, 2024, and was released in the United States on March 1. It received praise from critics and has grossed $509.9 million worldwide against its $190 million production budget, making it the highest-grossing film of 2024.

But is it still a hit ?

reply

Hopefully you're being funny, but surely you know London is definitely not a country. It's quite well known to be a city.
The city with Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge. You know, THAT London.

Marketing is probably another $100m so it hasn’t even broken even yet and we are one month in.
I see $600m +++ and another $50m from streaming. It will generate a profit but not a substantial one.

Its climbing and will hit $600 ny end mid April.

reply

I think it will burn out at 750. I hope it reaches 1 bil, I look forward for Dune Messiah, but it's just wishful thinking

reply

Not so far fetched, numbers are good enough, this will be huge at streaming too, and Villeneuve already has a script for Messiah. He just said he doesn't want to rush it.

@Satan2016
Why does it matter?

Do you think the people who saw it will care about how much it has made or might make at the box office?

Only about 0.00001% of people actually do.

reply

Some people care if their favourite movie succeeds or not. If it's a quality production and not some Marvel crap, it's good for the movie industry as well. There's still hope that we will see more quality movies in the future and it proves there's still market for them. That's in general, I haven't seen Dune 2 yet, so can't comment that.
