What's the appeal?

So it's about a guy....who builds an atomic bomb? Nothing more, nothing less. I have a feeling it'll be something overly long and drawn out. Would this be getting the same amount of attention if Chris Nolan weren't directing it? I hear more about him than the movie itself.

Nolan Fan Boys. Just like "Barbie" is for the Gertwig Fan Girls. These movies are most about getting the prefab fanatic fanbases of both directors to get onto social media and lose their minds over how "incredible" their idols are and how "perfect" their latest products are. The movies themselves are secondary.

When it comes to Nolan, his base are saying that this film supplants "Tenet" as the "greatest film of the century." Of course, "Tenet" in actuality was one of the most inert films of the century. It had the emotion of a corporate press release.

The only way I would pay money to go see "Oppenheimer" is if it were on film here locally. But, it isn't. I blew $20 on "Dunkirk" in IMAX and I thought it was a complete blank. No emotion or anything. Just some occasionally-interesting ships sinking or whatever.

The one thing that is probably interesting, is seeing the Trinity Bomb go off. But, $20 and three hours worth? No.

Quite a few here have praised Tenet, I certainly wasn't one.

His groupies fell for his British accent paired with his slow speech. Tenet sucks. Nolan could film a phone directory of NYC and people would love it, too.

You’re partly correct. Yes, very overly long and drawn out. But, nuclear weapons mark a turning pt in history of man and still affects us today ie Putin’s nuclear threats. The scientists under trial here is untimely ie Fauci questioned in Congress for his advice during pandemic

Oppenheimer is about the genius who spearheaded one of the most monumental developments in scientific and military history, and his fall from grace - and the OP doesn't see the point? What a moron.

You're describing the man and the event in itself while I ask how this translates into an entertaining movie experience. Don't be ignorant...

reply

You don’t find drama entertaining? Ok…
