SFGate Review: “Oppenheimer” is far from Nolan’s masterpiece. Frankly, it might be his worst film

“Oppenheimer” is far from Nolan’s masterpiece. Frankly, it might be his worst film, and all of the hype for it won’t be able to obscure that possibility any longer.

I haven't seen the film, but this is an interesting perspective from the brave girl power movement.

Why would anyone visit an uber-woke site based in a left-coast shithole?

reply

Nolan has no masterpieces. All his movies are mediocre.

reply

The batman trilogy is pretty good, at least the first one.

reply

For me, The Prestige is his best film, that's the hill I stand on. That movie seems to not get enough love.

reply

I watched it, thought it was pretty good, but nothing to be excited about.

I mean Robert must have known he was committing suicide over and over, he was not that dumb. That just did not make sense.

reply

I dunno, it depends also what people are expecting from a Nolan movie, I guess. If they expect some kind of gimmick which he is known for, it might be a let down if he gives none such. I read a review which said Oppenheimer is a surprisingly old-fashioned drama, which is a good news to me. I can't believe Oppenheimer would be worse than Tenet or, to some extent, Dunkirk.

reply

I can't believe anything is worse than Tenet, but Nolan does tend to give audience a hard time, more so in his later movies.

Anyway, have you watched it yet? I am interested in your opinion of the movie, as I haven't made up my mind whether to watch it when it is available on streaming.
