Unwatchable

I read the book and it was awesome. I didn't even know (before I read it) that it was going to be made into a series and was excited for it. Instead, I was quite disappointed.
I can't endure any more of Jeff Daniels' FOGHORN LEGHORN routine.
Plus they whitewashed (blackwashed) many aspects.
One of the main plot points was a black athlete falsely accused of rape - that was taken out of the series.
One of the main protagonists (a hero) who discovers Stoicism and changes his life around was white in the book - he's black now.
As I said - for me it's UNWATCHABLE. I will let the book live on in my mind untainted after being exposed to episode one.

People take creative license in adaptations all the time. You're just crying because seeing a black man scares you. They changed out the rape storyline because, since the book was released, we've had a huge change in how we view sexual assault and the most sensitive and effective ways of handling it. It's like you're a child.
