A lot of teen skin for a Christian movie!

I thought this was a pretty good movie and very inspirational and it might be debatable whether it falls into the Christian category because of the big name actors. The Christian theme is used more heavily than a lot of mainstream films which I think is good because I'm a Christian myself. Most Christian films have poor production value and the most popular actors are B list at best.

What kind of bothered me was that it seemed there was much use of sex appeal with the female characters being half naked half the time and that one scene with the girl posing in the bikini with the surfboard taking photos. You can call me old fashioned but it just seemed like the movie was sending mixed messages. I know little about Hawaii but if I'm a father of a teen girl in the future, she's not gonna be swimming around in a bikini and she's gonna learn modesty early on.

Jesus Christ, you have got to be kidding. You must be one of those people that have sex with their clothes on.

Modesty is a great thing to have. However, my Lord created my body which makes it a beautiful thing. I, too, have a young daughter and together we just reread the first few chapters of Genesis. I emphasized the beauty of humans because we were created in his image.
Having said that, the girls were not prancing around in bikinis when they felt like it. It was when they were surfing and at the beach during which time the swimwear was appropriate, and the girls covered up when away from the beach.
Also, the bikinis were not worn as a way to entice the opposite sex. Modesty is just as much about wearing appropriate clothing in the proper situtations as it is about respecting your body.

I voted for Frenchie and Dia like a sex donkey on Xanax.

What difference do the actors make to the message of the film? Some actors are Christian, some are not. Most actors are not fundamental evangelical Christians. That is not the sole Christianity in the world. There are 30,000 different formal Christian religious organisations in the world today, of which yours is only one. Do you believe anyone else who thinks differently from you is not a real Christian? If so, that's most of the world.

Your claim of half-naked applied to many men in the film who went around shirtless, but the girls I saw were covered up most of the time. They had tops and bottoms on except when they were surfing or in the water. Those bikinis were modest. There were no bottom cracks and no side boob showed. In case you didn't comprehend, Alana was posing in the photo shoot to sell bikinis and surfboards! Was that over your head? or were you too into her teen body to pay attention to the story?

When I lived in Key West for three years I owned 9 bikinis and 2 one-piece bathing suits. That's right, 11 in total. We had a boat and lived on Garrison Bight. I lived in those bathing suits spring, summer and fall, and Key West barely even has any beaches. We had a boat and we were on it frequently, thus the wardrobe of swimwear.

Yes, you know little about Hawaii, or living in a tropical vacation spot. It would seem you know much about teaching girls to be ashamed of their bodies, dis-empowering women and keeping them down.

If we are made in God's image, then why should we feel shame for how we look? These seem to be your own issues and you should deal with them before you screw up your daughter's entire life. To see inappropriate behaviours and mixed messages where none existed demonstrates a problem with your own perception.

Those were healthy athletic female bodies, dressed in the appropriate garb of their chosen sport. If you had sexual feelings about them, it's not their problem. That's how *Muslims* think about women and women's bodies. Haven't we moved beyond that in the 21st Century in America?

Jesus was the first feminist. He gave equal roles to women and men in his retinue and the men were jealous as a result. Women and men had equal roles in the early Christian Church and that was maintained as long as church meetings were held in homes. After the first three hundred years when church buildings began to be created separately just for worship, women were marginalised again and they lost their equality. If you studied Christianity you would know this. Jesus wanted us all to be equal, not separate but equal but equal.

Matthew 7:5.

Okay lexylady, let's lay off him. He had a very valid point as a religious person, you do as well [just as good, even though many have made this about Mormons on the CleanFlix board.] Otherwise the moderators may have to DELETE this thread.[Which happened on the Zooey Deschanel board.]

Who the frak are you to tell them to lay off? They're right about this, and he is an idiot.

Christian or not, it's a movie about surfer girls, there's gonna be bikinis.

The only scene I can see (uptight) people having a problem with is the camera slowly panning up Bethany/Anna's naked back, but she's learning to do everything without her left arm. Tying a bikini top would surely be one of them. Just as shopping was. And cutting fruit. This girl spends a sizeable chunk of each & every day in a bikini. It was innocent.
