Horrible surfers, they killed the shark?

It was giant wave surf-god Laird Hamilton (no relation, and one of my few 'guy crushes'!) that insisted his surfing-champ/fisherman father find the shark and kill it.
Over-reacting? Yes. But you can understand the anger that a surfer might feel. Bethany visited Billy Hamilton, to look at the shark She asked for some of the teeth, for a necklace.
But really - millions(?) of sharks are slaughtered every year. Many left to suffer and die after their fins are cut off. MAN is the heartless killer in the water.

Doe doe head ... I guess by now you have been educated about sharks by some of the very smart commenters on this thread ... Think before you post .

I hope you're a vegan if you're taking this stance. Sharks are killed for their meat, just as tuna, cows, deer, shrimp, and many other animals are.

Lots of ignorant posts in this thread. People are pretty stupid. Let's kill an animal for being an animal. Animals don't have the luxury of walking into a sushi bar and eating to their heart's content; if they see an easy meal, they're going to take it. Sharks are carnivores and they get hungry. This is no different than Timothy Treadwell's death. Bears are carnivores and Treadwell intruded on the bear's territory. It got hungry and saw an easy meal.

Fortunately, Sharks dislike human flesh, which is why they tend to attack and let go of their victim shortly thereafter, and that's the interesting part. The shark that attacked Bethany could easily have killed her, but it didn't. What did people do? "*beep* ANIMALS FOR BEING HUNGRY! LET'S KILL IT!" (I'm not an animal lover, mind you. I'm just utilizing common sense.)

Stay out of the water next time. Why kill the shark she was at his house. She should get over herself.

They have to kill the shark. Remember in Jaws how when the mother's son died, she blamed the people who were in charge on the beach in that they knew there was a killer shark out there and didn't do anything about which led to the deaths of more people. You almost feel a responsibility to do so.

He appeared to be manipulative and he did seem to lie a lot.
