Claire's Hair is Distracting

I completely agree with your comments. I keep thinking 'Why would a woman like Claire have a haircut that's so obviously unflattering?' It does distract me, especially when they call her 'a beautiful woman'.

I'm not distracted by it, but I agree her hair is an entity unto itself. I wonder what product they use on it to stay in place. Some kind of wax? Also, someone said it is short because she is busy and short hair makes sense for a busy woman. Well, to keep her hairstyle, she would have to get it cut quite a lot, like maybe twice a month. I would love to see her style it, though, LOL. Probably slathers it with some product and drags a fine-tooth comb through it.

It looks great on her and plays up her good bone structure (which most women don't have). It also goes with her slim figure and small frame. Her hair IS flat and limp in its natural state, so no point in trying to make it poofy.

It also fits with her lifestyle. She is super busy and runs daily. She doesn't have much time to fool with her hair every day. She's too old for a pony tail or long straight hair, and would look weird with a bun.

I prefer long hair on myself, but I don't have the face for short hair. You have to have a really good face and jaw line to pull that off.

She also wears good shoes.

I like it. That style in my opinion enhaces her character. Sort of like how my wife says it is like a red tie and a dark suit it exudes power. It frames her face well and definitely suits her. I am still just mid season 1 but so far she reminds me a lot of women that I respect- strong, intelligent and not stomping around demanding respect because she is capable and commands respect. I have had the pleasure of working with multiple women who are like Claire and I am lucky enough to be married to someone liker her minus the infidelity.

I think so far she is one of my favorite characters and I really think oddly enough her hair is like a cherry on top of a great sundae. It is feminine while showing reserve and it seems like a natural extension of her.

Sexy without being sexual of that makes sense.

Hair, schmair. Where are the Underwoods' flag pins? Obama was excoriated once in 2008 for not wearing one. Or is it that we've moved on to more weighty matters. . .like, hair?
