Gotham had a great Joker

The TV show Gotham had the best 'young Joker' I wish that they would use him as the Joker in one of these films, he was fantastic! I have yet to meet a Batman enthusiast who didn't like him.

reply

Jerome was nutty, a psychopath, and entertaining. He even had a motive or at least an understandable reason why he became what he was. But then we get Jeremiah and I was blown away!!!! That sealed the deal for me in liking Gothams Joker.

reply

Jeremiah was a different kind of genius than Jerome, both excellently performed by Cameron Monaghan. I have to admit that I was kind of cringing when I heard that he was going to do the part, only because I thought he was too young to bring enough layers and depth to the character. I was so wrong. He was brilliant and I would LOVE to see him do it again especially now that he's a bit older. Someone needs to make it happen.

reply

Eh, I checked him out and he seems so so. At times he did sound like the Keith Ledger version which I liked. Other times he just sounds like some British bloke.

reply

The majority of watchers loved him, he's especially lauded on the Reddit page for Gotham.

reply

The few people that stuck around to watch this mediocre show have questionable tastes to say the least. I saw clips of Gotham's Jokers, I wasn't impressed at all. And Reddit is hardly a good website to use for boasting about someone's performance.

reply

Good for you.

reply

Indeed.

reply

I’m really puzzled by this reply because he’s not British and at no time did he use a British accent. . .

Gotham had two great jokers! I preferred the first but the second was just as good, I liked Ecco (Harley Quinn) too.

A shame she was killed off, I would have enjoyed the show even more with them as central characters.

reply

Loved Ecco. The two Jokers on Gotham were like chaos and control, both terrifying, both very different. I preferred Jerome too because he was having SUCH a good time being a menace.

It was really stupid to kill them off, the show was at it's best with them around!

reply

It really was, as good as Penquin, Riddler and Catwoman were as central characters in Gotham, each appearing in nearly every episode, Jerome was in too few compared to them, I’ll not even mention Harvey Dent!

reply

Loved Penguin so MUCH, I didn't really care for the Catwoman. The Riddler was really very good. I thought the Valeska twins were as good as Penguin who was the best actor in my opinion. The twins were so much fun to watch and vastly different from each other. I would have LOVED more episodes with them but I think the actor was under contract for another show at the time so that might be why he wasn't on more. They couldn't have picked anyone, especially from his age group, to do a better job.

reply

I'd welcome a Batman TV Show with Cameron Monaghan returning as the Joker sometime in the future. I just had a look at the cast list Theo Galavan, Jervis Tetch and Ra's al Ghul appeared in more episodes than the Valeska twins. It didn't feel like it, Cameron Monaghan totally nailed it.

reply

I'm surprised that Theo Galavan, Jervis Tetch and Ra's al Ghul were in more episodes, WOW. The Valeska twins made a huge impression on the show.

reply

I'm probably in the minority but I hope Joker isn't introduced in these movies for quite a while yet.

But I agree with you when it comes to the Valeska brothers, especially as the show creators had to work around censoring by Warner Bros when it came to using Joker.

reply

Yeah, I understand what you mean about delaying the Joker, to me the movie becomes more about the Joker than Batman when he's around.

The 'way' the kept bringing back the Valeska brother's could have been annoying but that actor did such a good job, I couldn't NOT like him. Speaking of which I JUST got the 'Jedi Fallen Order' game yesterday because the reviews were so great and realized that the main character is Jerome . . .or Jeremiah . . .or you know who I mean?

reply

I think the fact Jerome was a recurring character who turned up for a few episodes a season (or a one-off like season 1) helped a lot. Fans got really excited for his next appearance.

reply

Yeah, I was really surprised by how much I liked him. He was really fun to watch and the actor did such a good job with it.
