Ok, it may not be the best film ever. But it's still entertaining and has a decent story with out any major plot holes.

Honestly, I have no idea. I know so many people- gamers and non-gamers alike- who liked or loved this movie. And everyone is allowed to have an opinion if it's expressed fairly and intelligently... but some of the people on here are just toxic. They're literally just here to crap on our parade.
The best thing we can do is ignore the trolls. If we stop responding to them, they'll get bored and move somewhere else. Really, even if they keep making new threads, if they get 0 responses they'll realize their attempts to stir up internet conflict are futile and they'll eventually stop.

I enjoyed the movie and I played 1 game years ago. All the cast did a brilliant job, especially MF, MC and JI. The actions scenes were one of the best. You can see the work and dedication that went into making this movie. I hope for a sequel.
Haha thanks man! Yeah, I agree- the amount of work that went into this film is amazing and deserves a lot better than it's getting from critics.
But you know what- what the fans think about something is vital to making or breaking something, and the fact that basically all the fans like the film is good enough for Ubisoft. Watch Dogs had that whole controversy when it came out, and Ubisoft used that as a learning opportunity to make the much better Watch Dogs 2. So, I do think Ubi will move forward with the sequels of this movie regardless of how well it does. :)
I've never seen Watch Dogs and I'm sure this movie will do great overseas. I've read on Wiki that there is a sequel planned. I hope it's a true source. I'm looking forward to the franchise.

Hence my point about the difference between those who make intelligent posts about why they don't like the film, and those who just proclaim that the film is bad (or good) without any justification. shareI personally wasn't a huge fan. I didn't think it was awful but there were a few problems I had with it. It should be noted that I have never played the game, so that likely contributed to me not getting into this movie.
My biggest problem was I found it to be kind of boring for a lot of it, particularly the beginning. I was fighting falling asleep which never happens to me. It was at times hard for me to understand what was going on. I still don't understand why it kept showing that bird. I don't really understand the apple of eden. How exactly can it be used to get rid of free will. They clearly had possession a few times, but free will still existed. Is there some kind of complicated switch or procedure that they have to do to the apple? do they have to destroy it? If so why didn't they just hurry up and destroy it or flip the switch. Another large problem was the lack of character development which made it hard to ever care. I don't really know anything about Aguilar except that he was an assassin. I knew absolutely nothing about the girl who was fighting with him. I also found it hard to get drawn into the world when they would switch back so often between 1492 and modern day. It made the action less suspenseful and added to me not caring about anything going on. Anyways I actually could go on a bit more but I think I made my point. There are lots of things wrong with this movie, so it is easy for me to see why all the negativity. The only praises I have is some cool looking action sequences and decent acting throughout. But other than that it is pretty flawed. This is obviously just my opinion. I can see where you are coming from. My brother loved it, I didn't. he also knew more going into the movie. You likely have played the game and found it easier to be entertained, but to the general audience, this movie is hard to be entertained by.
I completely agree with you! The apple of eden thing especially. I also didn't understand seeing Sophia as a "ghost" assassin, yet nothing came of it. I'm curious to know how her father came from a templar line and she came from an assassin line.

Your points, especially regarding the Apple, are very valid. I am a huge fan and want this film to be great, but I am also a movie buff and absolutely understand how these things would make the film confusing.

Surprisingly... I like it. I expect a bit more longer movie than this, maybe more longer story of the past Assassin, This movie only show a bit of past but enjoyed the movie. Is a good movie I think, specially after such a disappointed with the latest two of Assassin's Creed game.
shareI felt the same way about the film. I'm seeing comments like the action had a lot of shaky cam but I thought it was very easy to figure out what was happening on screen. The film was fast paced, fun, and had excellent action choreography. I actually think it's been severely underrated as far as how good the action sequences were in this movie. The script was crap but what the hell, it you have this great cast and they help it considerably.
