MaXXXine vs Longlegs

MaXXXine - 05th July
Longlegs - 12th July

Two hotly anticipated horror movies coming out a week apart.

Which are you looking forward to more?

For me in the lead up MaXXXine, by a considerable distance, I enjoyed X and Pearl and I like both West as a director and Goth as an actress. One of my most anticipated movies of the year.

I've only seen one Perkins movie before, The Blackcoat's Daughter (aka, February)... it was decent enough I guess, of course Cage and Monroe as stars interests me. The hype for Longlegs is building up, the trailers look good and I'd now say I'm looking forward to both of them equally. Fingers crossed they both deliver.

I wonder which will do better at the box office and which will be better received by horror fans.

Longlegs.

X and Pearl were overrated.

I'm more looking forward to MaXXXine, although I want to see Longlegs as well.

reply

Both look painfully boring, not interested in either.

After seeing the reception to MaXXXine, it's all about Longlegs now!

Maxxxine looks cool, but Longlegs looks revolutionary.

Maxxxine basically set us up for disappointment with the first two very good films. This was one of my most anticipated for the summer. Longlegs PR department is doing a very good job of trying to make it look revolutionary but i've been hearing rumblings that there has been a fear of letting regular critics (like not from a horror website or fanboys or something like that) post their reviews to Rotten Tomatoes until Wednesday night, shortly before the film comes out the next day. Sounds like they want to keep that %100 as long as possible leading up to the opening. Idk, seems like a red flag to me. This could be the second disappointment of July but for now my hopes are still pretty high.

If anyone's interested, I reviewed the movie on my youtube channel. Appreciate any feedback. Trying to improve -https://youtu.be/Ec24OEq1gmo

Longlegs looks set to have a domestic opening weekend 3x that of MaXXXine.

The cinema goers have made their decision. Longlegs > MaXXXine.

reply

I've seen both. I liked Maxxxine better. Longlegs is a 7/10 and Maxxxine is an 8/10 from me.
