Why don't the two guys know that it also is taking a day time picture?

She doesn't remove the daytime pictures when she shows the room off to the two guys. It fooled me because I couldn't see the pictures well enough to make out why there were two different colors of pictures. One appeared blue and the other red to me and I kept wondering before the reveal why there were two different colors of pictures but no explanation but the two guys who could have inspected them better than I could would have realized one was taken at night and the other at day time. But of course they were both idiots so I guess it makes sense. Your thoughts?

They were all pretty dumb apart from the good guy security. That's my synopsis

She did remove the day pictures from the previous week. That was enough to keep the guys off her scent.

The characters were all unimaginative and that's sort of the point.

They went from seeing the machine to immediately obeying it, without ever wondering how it might actually work or what else it might be able to do.

Case in point: they had no idea that it could be adjusted to look further ahead until they were told explicitly.

The idea of the film was to show "ordinary people" coming across an extraordinary device and not knowing how to deal with it. So they immediately become enslaved to it.

And in the end, everything's predestined regardless.
