I’m baffled by the good reviews

Well, now that I’ve finished the final episode, I’ll give my verdict. I don’t get it, don’t get the hype or good reviews. It’s so boring. Nothing really happens. I’m so glad it’s over.

reply

The good reviews usually are fueled by money or bots.

Especially when he's likely referring to audience feedback.

reply

Well, I like this series.

reply

I thought it was good. I already mostly knew the story and was interested in how they would do it. I thought it was good, and the characters were believable. The thing that was a bit annoying was that it seemed to be always raining in Japan. Is that true? I was slow moving because most of the story was about explaining the Japanese culture.

reply

Japan has also tropical weather, also I guess in some regions it rains more than enough.

reply

It was always raining in this series. I don't remember that ever being remarked on in the book or the other series, but I don't really remember much from any of them. It just seemed an odd choice.

reply

I Don't get the hype either, I gave it a fair try but its just too boring and there's nothing original in it.

reply

So you watched the entire series despite finding it uniformly boring? Or did you watch only the final episode? Either way, your review sounds like disingenuous, trollish bullshit.

reply

Dude, I watched the whole friggin ten episodes because I wanted to give it a fair shake. Nothing exciting or great happens in it, no great battles or fights, nothing… then it ends. Ugh. WTF.

reply

Fair enough. Me, if I think a series sucks right out of the gate in the first couple of episodes, I give up on it immediately.

reply

Try the 1980 one, it actually follows the book better.

reply

The hype and good reviews were before episode 6.
