BTW is this film even possible in this vacation resort destination?

The plan of the bad guy is basically already in action all throughout the Keys. What the movie shows is fantasy land vision of the Keys in the 70s. It's a little bizarre. For sure there's massive drug trade moving through there. But also tons of of Resorts and Hotels and all that kind of wonderful thing. There's certainly no rogue biker gangs raping and murdering their way down these sheltered highways. The premise sounded absurd to me when announced and seeing the film it was doubly so.

The plan of the bad guy is the old "I want to build a big thing and your little old traditional bar is right in the way" that is used in many movies.

Although I dont think the original road house was one of them , in that one the bad guy just extorted money from all the businesses I think.

Yeah, the original plot was like a Yakuza shakedown situation, or pick-your-ethnic protection racket trope. It was fucking great too.

The location felt so wrong, like, if it was in the seedy location where the movie started, it would have fit better, but not on a beach side bar, with a terrace on the beach. It felt like a nice road bar where you stop as a tourist on your way to the Keys to get a margarita. Like, the only problems they had were a bunch of bikers being dicks (that we later of course find out is part of a bigger plan).

In reality these bad guys, who ended up being fairly ruthless, rich and connected, would have hired a cuban merc squad to clear that bar out and burn it to the ground and that would have been the end of it. The sheriff was crooked as hell. There wouldn't have even been an investigation. I was trying to enjoy the movie but the premise was beyond absurd.

The premise is a little silly but if suspend disbelief and enjoy it as a fun action movie it's very entertaining, much like the CULT CLASSIC original version. It's basically a 'western' set in The Florida Keys.
