EPISODE 7 - WHY?!?!?!

Jump the shark much?

Are you *beep* kidding me?

This episode is so out of place I can't even fathom if it's a joke or what.

I was totally into 1-6... episode 7 body swap? WTF? Nobody said no to this? They just let it happen?

/facepalm

Show was riding at about a 90-something/100 for me. Until episode 7. Holy *beep* *beep* horrible.

In the words of GRRM, they also commit the act of montage. Jesus christ please don't ruin this show!

I didn't really like the episode either. Well, most of it anyway. I thought it got better when the father and son began to bond together, and it had a sweet ending, but I almost skipped it all together. I just assumed that they were paying homage to the body swap genre in the same way they paid homage to summer comedies set in the 80s. It was a bit odd though.

However, it doesn't qualify as a "jump the shark" moment because episode eight is a REALLY GOOD episode, probably one of the best, and it continues to stay strong all the way to the final scene. It was a misstep, but not a "jump the shark" moment.

Agreed with all of this. It was out of place, but wasn't altogether terrible.

I think it was an interesting experiment for the show, and paid off well enough. Didn't detract from how good the season overall was for me.

This episode is so horrible. It's so out of line from the whole rest of the show. It's just so random and not funny. I have no clue how they kept this episode or made it.

I feel like when these episodes happen early in the series it's a lot more fun when they happen later down the line. I consider this a "lost episode". Like a script that was written but not produced. Like a B-side to your favorite album. Or like when scenes from a movie get cut, but there's still loose ends the filmmakers forget (like "sorry if I was weird the other day").

I agree, the episode is totally missable and out of place. But at no point did I want to skip the episode.

Yeah just doesn't work at all, and I thought maybe it was all imagined but David references it in the next episode. Still love the show hopefully they don't do anything like that again

Jumped the shark? Not at all. It was an odd choice, but it wasn't terrible, just felt out of place within the context of previous episodes. The poster that thought they might be paying homage to the body swap films of the 80s is definitely on to something, which if that's the case, then I loved it for being a little wink at the viewer for being in on the joke. Also, they were able to allow some exposition without resorting to one character telling another character things they already know. In that light, it was sweet and kind of clever as long as one is willing to let it be that.

To me you are the teacher in a Charlie Brown cartoon

It's definitely and homage to the body swaps of the 80's like father like son and vice versa not an out of place episode ???

Yeah I get that but that doesn't make it good. I also still found it out of place too. Just my opinion. I wouldn't have cared so much if there were more episodes. I just felt it was a wasted episode compared to the rest.

At first I felt exactly as you do, then as it progresses, it showed real insight for David and his dad into each other's life. As others have said, the following episode were probably even better then 1-6.

The episode did feel weird and a little out of place. The rest of the season had a feel of realism to it, and then just that one episode was fantasy based. Still though I didn't dislike the episode. I liked seeing the father and the son get to see things from the opposite perspective. I definitely don't think it hurt the show.

I agree - it was different, but didn't bring down the show at all. Looking forward to more

It's just a terrible episode and it's unfortunate that the creators felt that would be a good use of their time, episode wise. They only have 10 episodes and they waste one basically.

Then the way other characters behaved in episode 8, it actually wasn't supposed to be a dream sequence, but something that happened for real. WTF.
