These are estimates, which will no doubt lowball the actuals.

No film has ever had this kind of opening, so there is no precedent to go from. I guess we'll have to wait untill the next 300m opening to make a comparison.

Well only 4 movies have opened high enough to have mathematically been able to drop 210m.

It's opening weekend was higher than the combined first 2 weekends of every other film except for TFA and Infinity war. It was about 15m less than Infinity War's first 2 weekends. So probably most of the people who went to see Infinity War in its first 2 weeks probably went to see Endgame on its first weekend. Which means most of the people seeing this weekend are seeing it for the second time. So if you think about it like that, it's a pretty amazing second weekend.

When you start getting into ridiculous opening week numbers like 1.9 billion, the hold is going to be affected. I think there a lot of people like me who would normally have watched in week 2 or 3, but instead saw it in week 1.

It's gonna be incredibly close. It needs 600m to beat it. Another 200m+ domestic is assured. But then it needs another 400m from the rest of the world. China is almost done, it is expected to make about another 40m there. It made about 220m from the rest of the world this weekend. But it will still need another 350m.

The out of place "all girl" scene in the middle of the main battle, the nerfing of several male characters in the movie, Captain America giving the shield to Sam instead of Bucky, Thor giving watch of Asgard over to Valkyrie (why there are non Scandinavian Asgardians still has never been explained), and more.

Asgard is a fictional realm and its capital city appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Based on the realm of the same name from Norse mythology, Asgard is home to the Asgardians and other beings adapted from Norse mythology.

The idea is that Odin chose Scandinavia as a home away from home thousands of years ago. As Asgardians visited Scandinavia the native Scandinavians accepted them as gods.

There's no basis in the comics that Odin chose Scandinavia because Asgardians are ethnically related to them somehow. In fact it wouldn't even make sense to have them ethnically connected. But it would make sense for Scandinavia to represent them as all white in their fictionalizations of Asgardians since white people were pretty much the only ones around to play the part in various Norse plays.

This is the sort of disconnect I see often online-- the leftists this or the right-wingers that. What you're complaining about has nothing to do with left or right.

Asgard is an alien planet, populated by alien beings. They are humanoid in appearance, but they aren't human. They certainly aren't Scandinavian. The generally accepted notion in the MCU is that these aliens visited the earth hundreds of years ago, and spent some time amongst the Vikings and/or other people living in northern Europe. Those people saw the mighty feats the Asgardians could perform, and without any understanding of who or what they were, worshipped them as gods. Long after the Asgardians had departed, they were worshipped, and the legends were passed down throughout history.

Meanwhile, what you are irate about is the ethnic ancestry of the actors chosen to depict the Asgardians on film. How dare they cast someone who traces his ancestry to Africa in such a role?! Only a pure, white actor of specifically Scandinavian ancestry is fit to depict Heimdall, or Balder, or any Asgardian!! And this is where it becomes clear that it isn't about right or left, for those on both sides of the political spectrum agree that we're all equal, and race is of no consequence in any aspect of life, acting included.

Rather than right or left, it's about racist or non-racist. You are offended to see a black, or Asian, or any non-white actor in a role you think belongs only to a white actor. I don't care what color an actor's skin is, or where his ancestors came from. It's acting, after all. Idris Alba can't actually see everything or command the Bifrost, and he isn't an Asgardian, so he pretends, i.e. acts, like he can. His skin is black? Who cares? Can he play a convincing Heimdall? Hell yeah he can.

This has nothing to do with right or left. I'm staunchly right wing in my politics, and like most other right, and left, leaning people, I'm not racist in my appreciation of film. Hide behind politics if you must, but the truth of the matter is that the view you are expressing is overtly racist, not political.

The whole girl scene was cheesy, but I've seen a lot of people complain that there hasn't been enough female representation in the MCU and I think that was just them proving that there is. It makes sense Cap giving the shield to Sam considering the general population still more than likely considers Bucky a terrorist with all the things he's done and Bucky may be worried that he could revert back to losing control. Not only that, but Falcon seemed to have Bucky's blessing. I imagine Bucky talked to Steve before he left because he knew he wasn't coming right back. Not sure why Valkyrie seeing over Asgard is a bad thing?

with a number than HUGE....It was Impossible to know If EG could even have Normal Holds...

and we now Know EG did in fact astonishing have Normal holds....somehow a film that opening to 357 M had the same holds as Most Tentpole Blockbusters...

There ONLY 1 possible reason for The astonishing outcome....

The A+ Cinemascore...

WOM was so great, repeat viewing was so high...It somehow preformed like a normal Blockbuster despite being having a OW like no other movie in history

The actual drop for 2nd weekend is 58.7%. I don't consider weekends important, the weekly totals and drops can be used to create a geometric sequence and estimate the final box office. BO Mojo updates them on Fridays.
