original six Avengers ... done?

I was reading the thread on Professor Hulk, and it occurred to me: did Feige & co. intend this to be the (at least possible) conclusion all six original Avengers?

Ruffalo claims that, because the Universal rights preclude Hulk-centered movies, he and Feige sat down and discussed what they'd like to see in Hulk standalone movies. That story arc was rolled into Ragnarok and these last two Avengers flicks. So this could be how Hulk's story finishes in the MCU. That's why Banner's so cheerful throughout most of Endgame; he's reached the end of his journey, and he's content.

Iron Man and Widow are dead; Cap and Hawkeye are clearly retired, for similar reasons interestingly enough.

And while Chris Hemsworth hasn't shut the door on further movies, Thor has at least given up being Asgard's king and earth's hero. If he's just wandering the universe looking for adventure, he's definitely not an "Avenger" any more.

Maybe this was obvious ... it only just occurred to me.

It could be why this movie depressed me a bit - it represents a substantial chunk of time in my life during which a lot happened, both in their world and mine.

And it's really a first-of-its-kind accomplishment: 22 movies in 11 years, more than a movie franchise yet not as episodic as a TV series season.

So this notion sorta puts the capstone on it all. Or the final nail in the coffin

Ruffalo still has one more movie in his contract. Hemsworth resigned a contract and has been in talks for a Thor 4 for some time, so he's gonna stick around. Hawkeye will have his own Disney + show and Black Widow is getting a prequel so we'll them in at least one more project each.

Right forgot about the Hawkeye series & Black Widow movie

Good to know Ruffalo & Hemsworth are still around, too. Unlike the most vocal posters on this board, I really like where both characters have gone

I wish they showed the merging of Bruce and Hulk and brought things to a close but otherwise, I liked Prof Hulk.

here is my solution to endgame

tony dies but an a.i. based on tony stark's mind comes online in a new nanomech suit

cap stays in the past, lives a long happy life with peggy and they have a daughter who inherits the shield intro “American Dream”

it is later discovered that when cap returned the soul gem it freed natasha and sheturns up along with a hulk snap returned vision and quicksilver and t'challa's father who takes back the criwn of wakanda allowing black panther freedom to join the avengers

Future Captain Marvel could go back to just before Tony snaps, grab him and fly away to a random location - take the glove and snap everyone back and be fine. THEN bring back Tony to the original timeline to be with his family.

Or 1000 future Hulks could coordinate an attack at a key moment in the battle.

It was a great ride, but it's over.
