Does anyone else feel that it was heavily implied... (SPOILERS)

That the police had something to do with the womans murder? I mean why were they so intent on letting that guy take the rap? They knew he was innocent, but the sheriff made that other prisoner say it was him, without any evidence. Was it all just cause he slept with a white woman, they wanted him to suffer?

As for the movie itself, I thought it was alright. As a social justice movie it just felt too familiar, the formula has been done before too many times.

I don't think it was the police;to my knowledge, Morrison's killer was never found. They hadn't any leads but they had a convenient scapegoat that dared to disobey the social mores of their community. It'd kill two birds with one stone.

reply

Not really. It was about their anger about a black man having had an affair with a white woman.
