About that tribute at the end.

I'm pretty conflicted, but understand the spirit it was delivered in. if anything, I'm surprised it was there, considering all the Chinese financing the film had.

It's been nearly 80 years since the battle, and war itself. While we should never forget all the atrocities that were committed for a variety of flags, we should also realize that most of those who died did so without malice or crimes. So it was a tribute to the human dignity, courage and pain that was felt on both sides that day.

This from the grandson of a US Navy vet who was stationed in the Philippines on the Canopus when the war started. You can read his story below.

Do you think the actual Doolittle raid would have happened if the planes were not getting safe refuge in China?

How is that relevant to the OP?

You're referring the the tribute to the Chinese people at the end of the film? How would it not be relevant?

I’m well versed in the Pacific theater but have not seen this film or the tribute. What does it say? I had heard it was a tribute to the Japanese and American forces.

I can only recommend that you read a book about the Doolittle Raid then. Here is the Wikipedia article on it.

I have the book: “I could never be so lucky again” and I have read it twice.

I’m asking what the tribute at the end of the film says.

A graphic noted the Japanese had slaughtered a quarter of a million Chinese for assisting Doolittle and his squadron.

They did a short biographical note on several of the important characters in the movie. On the Doolittle one it noted all the Chinese that had died in retribution.

The one sentence note at the end of the film (just text on a black screen) was a short tribute to all those that died on both sides during the battle.
