Season 3

So keen to start watching this show again. Trying to be patient though and wait for all the episodes to come out so I can just binge them all in a row.

It's been a great ride. Hope they will do a season 4, I'm _dying_ to know what happened.

reply

Pretty sure season 3 was the final season.

reply

Yeah. S3 was the last one sadly. Pretty meh ending if I'm honest. I was looking forward to a concluding episode rather than just an implication. Oh well. It was a solid 3 series run.

reply

On the other hand, at least he doesn't die in the end, so if we all shout loudly enough, maybe they'll change their minds and make a S4... one day...

reply

Which is surprising because the show was trending pretty dark, I was sure it would end badly.

reply

I think it was intentionally ambiguous considering imdb-484 didn't take it as Ray's demise but it's not a stretch to think he's at a serious disadvantage there, even taking into account his exceptional skills.

Pretty dumb decision not taking out Freddy immediately really. Though I suppose it shows some type of character growth.

reply

My take, based on his parting grin, was that we are to assume Ray takes them to school because that's part of his ethos, especially as of the final season.
Ray never kills wantonly and Freddy has a measuring personality plus connections, so having him kowtowed could be useful down the road. Basically, I don't think Ray wanted to burn ALL his bridges, even if they deserved it.

reply

I see where you're coming from but equally, I feel Ray is the type of guy that when concluding he's fucked, he would grin like that. Like "so this is how it ends huh? " in his head. Two versus one. Confined space. All it would take is the guy in the back to pop Ray in the back of the head and it's over.

Consider how Freddy acted when Ray left him. The guy was a loser. Absolute pussy. It was inevitable he'd call for someone to whack Ray to protect himself.

reply

I can see it both ways. Ray never loses, so he would assume he will win which is a huge psychological advantage, but eventually everyone loses, so it's left to our interpretation of the character. I feel like they went out of the way in the final season to imprint that Ray is at the top of his game, unstoppable, and so I like to believe he took those guys to school but it could go another way.

reply

I think he would take them out easily. The smile is pretty much saying these guys don't realise that they ain't dealing with your average cab driver.

reply

Exactly. They were at a disadvantage. The had no idea who the hell they were fucking with.

I freaking lost it when he smiled & looked straight at the camera. Loved that ending shot! 😅

reply

Me too xD

It gave me a warm feeling like "They picked the wrong job".

I think it was a perfect send off, because we have seen enough of Rays work and skills to imagine how it might go down. Also it leaves the door open for the show to continue in the future : )

reply

I agree. S P O I L E R S (of course!)

It's hard to tell, but I think it's Ray who says "Run" at the end, like he's gonna give them a chance.

I swear I heard him cock a pistol early on the trip down that road. Hard to imagine he wouldn't know it's a setup shortly after they got into the car. One in back, one in front, got in at the outpost biker hangout, their 'tude as soon as they got in.

He still loves Zoe, but given the hair growth and job for a few months, he doesn't have a death wish. Cab driving esp. in the sticks is a dicey profession, so maybe he's even looking to be tested, or even figures Freddy would send someone some time, but he'll give him a chance to prove it was "a mistake."

I can't think of a better ending, esp. as others said, it allows for a Season 4, and gives us a good taste that the Old Ray is merely lying dormant... like a cat.

reply

I don't think there will be a season 4, but I'd definitely welcome it with open arms.
