That was a different issue altogether, but has been fixed as well :) I was only able to archive a certain amount before they shut down. However, there are some other archives/torrents floating around, so I'm currently looking into incorporating those into the site. So yes, ongoing process, and hopefully we'll have even more archives soon. hmm...will look into it EDIT: Seems like it was a weird glitch only affecting Android browsers. Anyways, it should be fixed now (may need to clear your browser's cache for changes to take effect). Just added real-time notifications (so you don't have to refresh the page) a few minutes ago. Working on trying to fix the "keep getting logged out" issue now. Thanks for alerting me to this issue. I'm working on a fix now. EDIT: Issue has been fixed. We've received quite a few donations :) Donations are processed by Square Cash so are completely secure (you can google Square if you're not familiar with them, but in short they're one of the largest payment processors in the United States). As I've said before, donations are neither required nor expected, and I'm committed to continuing to operate and update this site regardless of whether I receive donations, but donations ARE very appreciated! Jim EDIT: Real-time notifications have now been added (so you don't have to refresh the page). Due to cached assets, the layout might look a bit weird now (e.g., double search bars at the top, etc.) - you can clear your browser's cache to get rid of this immediately (or just wait a bit and things should sort themselves out). Will be watching in the background as I'm coding some updates for the site! Wow, this is truly amazing. I know Jakue, a member here, also had something similar. I was going to dig into his project when I had a moment, but looks like we've already got a working version! Props and major thanks to both drhouse and Jakue, and to Traveler for making the PSA. I know a lot of people don't want to visit IMDB anymore, and that's totally understandable. But for the people who do, or the people who don't know about this place yet (or don't want to visit a 3rd party website), this script/extension could be a great resource. On a related note - Jakue previously made a gif demo'ing his work here: http://imgur.com/M8O4UGg. I think something like this could do wonders for spreading the word. Hey whiskey, not sure if this was mentioned above yet, but you can always click on the poster's username to see when they last posted. If clicking on the person's name doesn't bring you to their profile, then they are not a member here. Hope that helps! Yeah it was previously pretty slow, but I just made an optimization. So whenever you add/change your email and notification options, it should be much faster now. It's something that we're looking into. Well I'd like to get around to seeing John Wick 2 when I find some time 😅 Welcome. If you don't mind me asking, how did you find out about MovieChat? Yes, we archived as much as possible from IMDB before they shut down the message boards, so many of the posts are preserved here. Yep, it's a known issue. There are some other general boards out of order as well. I will get around to fixing it eventually, but currently working on more pressing issues. Yes, I have the means to ban IP addresses if necessary. We'll eventually get a team of moderators to help out as well. For now, if you want to report something, just email me the link to jim@moviechat.org. Yes, you can change your email as many times as you want. Just note that the new email would apply only to posts/replies made AFTER you changed the email. (Any notifications for posts/replies that were made before changing your email will still go to your old email.) EDIT: now changing your email will also apply to old posts as well (so notifications for replies to posts made before you changed your email will now go to your new email) Yep, that's accurate. Thanks for posting and letting others know. I've disabled all other html tags for now (like images, videos, etc.), but links are allowed. However, please exercise caution when clicking on a link. The name of the link doesn't necessarily equal the name of the website. For example, below I have included a link named "http://google.com" but it actually takes you to "http://yahoo.com". You can hover your mouse over the link before clicking on it to see where it's really taking you. Hopefully this isn't a problem, but you never know! http://google.com Confirmed, looking into it (could have been due to an update I made, but I will see). Everything should be back up and running now, but if something like this happens again, please shoot me an email (jim@moviechat.org) and I'll take care of it right away. Could be because of a deleted post. When you delete an original post, the post vanishes entirely (so you don't see [deleted]), whereas when you delete a reply it will say [deleted]. I'll look into it more, but off the top of my head I believe that's what happened.
