You've never been right about anyting ever, pancakes. We've covered my posting history several times before and I'm no troll. I assure you, my dislike for Prometheus is genuine. "Perfectly unpretentious backbone of the board" Hibernation? Right, it's not like I have better things to do during my vacation... Also this is hardly a sock account, I used to be tkjoller until I for some reason got locked out of my account, so now I'm using this one instead. Talking about hibernation, why don't you tell us your whereabouts and what you were up to during your many months of absence from the boards... "Perfectly unpretentious backbone of the board" Online fad my ass, pancakes. I've only ever met one person IRL who liked Prometheus and that was mainly because of Noomi being Swedish. Everyone else hated it. If you've never met anyone who dislikes Prometheus, you either have to get out more, or you hang out with idiots... "Unpretentious backbone of the board" I know. It's like spending millions of dollars on special effects, hoping no one will notice how bad the script really is... The mission budgets don't matter...when they keep sending idiots to space. Perfectly unpretentious backbone of the board. Speaking of conversation, pancakes. Maybe if you talked less about personal details and more about what there was to get about Prometheus, then there could be an actual conversation. Paranoia and attention seeking isn't a great start for conversation...just saying. Perfectly unpretentious backbone of the board. No I don't think covenant answered anything. As many of us "haters" suspected, the creators realized it would be to hard to explain the previous mess, so they completely ignored it. The lovers obviously can't accept that fact and instead they blame Scott for caving in to Alien-fans. The truth is that although covenant was a better film than Prometheus, it was a terrible sequel and few on both sides liked it. I meant flamboyant, the adjective. No matter what they've said about you, at no time have I ever mistaken you for the devil. :-) I think you're correct...but that wasn't his name. He was the dirty guy who met both Sally and Lloyd. Some people claim his last name was Crumb, others say it was Potter. Who knows? No worries, saviodium. What I meant was that some mysteries can be answered, even in films like Alien. The answers must feel logical and fit with the previous film. Preferably the answer should've been thought of in advance, and not be something the director of a prequel pulls out of his ass to shoehorn into an existing story. O'Bannon's idea for the Space Jockeys was that they were peaceful explorers, why not follow up on that? Maybe they accidentally found the xenos, maybe they got attacked by another species and used the eggs as a last resort to defend themselves? According to O'Bannon, the xenos were the descendants of a once at least somewhat intelligent civilization. Why not explore that? Answers that expands the story and the universe where it takes place, can work even though you might've preferred a different answer. The answers Scott provides actually shrinks the universe. The world becomes so small that your wife is also your cousin, your sister and your mother... I don't agree with your topic but I guess it's hard to please everyone when answering mysteries, especially when you didn't come up with the original idea. There was nothing I liked about Prometheus and there was no need for that film to be a part of the Alien universe. I hated the backstory but if Ridley wanted to explore mans creation he should've done so in separate film with different creatures. Same goes for Covenant, stupid characters and a stupid backstory that was never part of the original idea for the alien or the space jockey. Ridley shoehorns his ideas, shrinking the alien universe from a large mysterious one, to one that fits nicely in his pocket. Covenant sucks as an Alien film and it sucks even more as s sequel to Prometheus. As a generic sci-fi it was nothing special and had they cut all ties to the alien universe it might have been an OK film. Well, we did our best to kill it after the fact. It was like shooting a dead horse. I'm gonna watch Covenant now, I'll share my thoughts later. Well, it sure would be interesting to see what the old lovers thinks about this one. Based on what people people around here say about it though I doubt they like it. I'm gonna watch it now, I'll let you know what I think ;-) Is that why we have Prometheus? Hi dazed. Yes I only posted once, then for some reason my password didn't work anymore. My bad, of course Foxcatcher was Asphyxiod from India. But I do believe Elijah did use another name as well, never verified though. Seen anyone else around? Did he die? Well otherwise he'd be the oldest living person by far. Master of trickery and deceit you say, is that you Ridley? I don't know if you chose the right Harry, he did get beaten up and died ;-) If there are people here from the old board, they can't hide forever. Sooner or later they'd share details only known to people posting there for a long time. I'll try to catch up on this board and see if I can spot anyone I recognize. Perfectly unpretentious backbone of the board. Yes this sure looks like the best alternative, at least that I've seen. I don't really know who's here but apart from yourself and dazed, I've seen Seneika, Sinister and Foxcatcher (Elijah I presume). I guess figuring out who goes by what name can be kind if fun, as long as they're not trying too hard to hide it. I guess you chose a name by which you'd be recognized this time. You too mate. I did sign up here as soon as IMDb closed down but I lost access to my account after only one post, so I kind of gave up on this place. Then after reading a few not overly positive reviews, I decided to give this board a second chance. So far I've seen a few posters who liked it, but no one's defending it. It's almost like if none of the "lovers" have seen it yet...or perhaps they're still chocked how wrong they were. So what do you think, will there be any action on this board? I'll see it too eventually, also for free. Unfortunately I don't have any connection with people who run that site. At least the audio is out :-) Perfectly unpretentious backbone of the board. Not paying to get ripped off again, are you Harry? Me either, once is enough. Perfectly unpretentious backbone of the board.
