"May they all rest in peace." Well they're not going to rest now that you've made fun of their teeth...:) Because that's when we started getting bad trouble on the borders which fits nicely with Bell's dilemma. Clarke's novel was a different version of the story. Not a novelization. My point is that it's not meant to be read first in order to understand the movie. Legion is a very good book. I've read it several times. "This movie was co-conceived and co-written by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke. A movie was done and a book was done by each of their craft. Because of the co-creation, it is my opinion that both mediums were to be consumed together. The movie requires no exposition because the book provides the exposition. The movie is simply the visual story version of the book with the intention that the audience has already read it." Wrong. fleischwolf is right. The demon was defeated by Karras' sacrifice. The exorcism had little effect. Also, the demon wanted Merrin to watch Regan die. In the book the demon is very upset by Merrin's death. Anton got the money. As you mentioned TLJ sees the vent open and a dime lying on the floor so it's implied. In the book it's definitely Anton. No it's not mentioned in the movie or book so probably not. The desk clerk is the one at the second hotel.
