It was OK, nothing special. I agree that it was a retread of Breakdown. There was one climactic scene (no spoilers) that was ruined by really bad CGI. Fun fact: This is the second Gerrard Butler movie that is a loose remake of a classic; the first being Den of Thieves, which I think was a decent ripoff of/tribute to Heat

The original film is from 1986. Goose's son was supposed to be four so he would have been born in 1982. Maverick was filmed in 2019 which would have made Rooster 37. He was already an experienced pilot who had been in the navy for some time. *** SPOILERS *** The conflict that existed between Rooster and Maverick is because Rooster's mom was against her son becoming a navy pilot so Maverick pulled Rooster's application which set his career back four years as said in the movie.

He was great in everything he was in: White Lightning, American Graffiti. To me, he was most memorable in a few episodes of The Rockford Files, playing attorney John Cooper, and in one of the most disturbing episodes of Hawaii five-O, playing a member of a serial-killer family on a crime spree in Hawaii.

Great list. I love that you picked Charley Varrick as no. 2 for 1973. Such an underrated movie! But for '77 I would have to substitute Close Encounters for Black Sunday. I don't like Black Sunday at all. The ending was so stupid and illogical that it ruined the whole movie for me.
