When Trump won in 2016 the White House, House and Senate were controlled by the Republicans for 2 years

So why didn't Trump and the Republicans secure the southern border then? It's like the Republicans want illegal border crossings to continue since they are doing absolutely nothing to stop illegal aliens crossing the southern border today.

reply

Probably the same reason that they didn't "fix" healthcare. Any solution that the MAGA GOP excretes would be completely unpalatable to moderate republicans and be doomed to never pass a vote.

reply

A case in point.

The Republicans spent years saying, "Hey, give us Congress and we'll repeal Obamacare! Oh, wait, we have to control the Senate to do it, so keep voting harder! Akshually, we need the Presidency so that our new bill doesn't get vetoed. Oh, we have all three now? Well, piss on it, it's pretty much the law of the land, and we enjoy being "Mavericks" who side with the Dems."

Health care in this country is a disaster. I don't think it's escaped anyone's notice that since the passage of the Obamacare boondoggle, your premiums have skyrocketed while your care is increasingly rationed. A fix should be fairly easy since we now know what doesn't work. But again, the Republicans love nothing more than that fink on their voters.

reply

That's exactly the case. Republicans will find a way to fink on their voters every single time. They prefer being an opposition party that loses elections and then gets to complain. That's how their fund-raising works. Think about it, how often does the GOP go to voters and donors and say, "we did X, Y, and Z, so support us so that we can continue winning"? Never. It's always, "hey, if you don't give us money or vote for us, you're going to get some radical progressive and you don't want that!"

But what do they ever do to arrest the leftist surge in our culture or government? Not a blessed thing. For the first time in decades, the GOP had the Presidency and both houses of Congress from 2000-2006. Six long years. And what did they do? They started a bunch of wars and enacted a police state! Meanwhile, Bush tried nominating complete stooges to the Supreme Court and the supposed "Christian Conservative" didn't win a single battle in the culture wars. Honestly, if Gore had won in 2000 and the Congress had been Democrat, how much worse would things have been?

At this point, anyone voting for the (R) is a hopeless loser. The party should be driven from existence and this two party charade ended. We will never see substantive change in our government and way of life until remove the veneer of legitimacy from the current false choice they try to serve us with.

As I recall, Trump was going to build a wall to secure the border and some assholes fought him on it. You fucktards decry and defeat the solution and then whine when there isn't one.

"We" as conservatives are not at war with democrats only. We're at war with the corrupt establishment. Corruption perpetuated by you dumbasses.

reply

Since Trump was already stopping, preventing and returning more illegals by Sept-2019, it makes sense that they required fewer agents by that time.

reply

Really? There wasn't one single illegal alien in the USA to deport?

reply

Of course there was, but much fewer than in 2016.

reply

the border was secure until Jan 20, 2021, then you dear leader opened the border to everyone in the southern hemisphere.

reply

Trump's policy of REMAIN IN MEXICO, during the hearing, did greatly reduce border crossings.

I recall farmers whining about not being able to find enough illegal migrant workers to harvest their crops.

It was a good first step, not nearly enough, but it should not be ignored.

I agree that if Trump gets back in, that he needs to step it up far more.

reply

They have to go back. All of them.

reply

Good question. Lemme try to answer it. Uh, they don't care about the border. They never did. Except for maybe Steve King and where is he now?

reply

The RJC (Republican Jewish Coalition) is gearing up to spend upward of $15 million in what will be the largest targeted effort toward the Jewish community in critical battleground states across the country … We have a long-standing history of speaking out against folks who are anti-Israel, whether they be Democrats like “the Squad” and the progressives on the left, but also against folks who voice anti-Israel sentiments on the Right”.

“We were the group that was responsible for defeating Congressman Steve King. We’re spending over a million dollars in Indiana this election cycle, to beat former congressman John Hostettler, who was one of the most anti-Israel voices in Congress during his tenure.

Every. Single. Time.

reply

Maybe both parties are the same and only raise issues like the border when elections roll around.

I mean, abortion rights could have been codified under Obama and Biden right? Same thing.

Gotta keep the rabble hot and bothered about something.

reply

That is when we saw the deep state come out.
Trump was literally building a wall and they stopped him.
That's how hard they fight for an unsecure border.

Democrat no cash bail is a direct link to the crime wave and they wont let it go let alone report on the results.

The Democrat deep state controls the media, silicon valley, Hollywood, college academia, they control the FBI and IRS, they have packed the courts.

Who is on trumps side?

Democrats are like Darth Vader and the dark side, extremely wealthy and powerful.

Trump and the Patriotic citizens are like Luke and the light side.
