Not enough people here

I really like this site but the biggest problem is that few people seem to know about it, same problem for themoviedb and chataboutfilms. On the IMDB forums you could ask a question about an obscure film or show from the 60s, 70s or even earlier and someone would answer the same day but here, even the most popular and recent shows and films are a ghost town in the discussions. There needs to be some advertising to bring in people, I hope it improves over time but the few people here won't stick around long if it stays like this for a long time.

Well, I chose Aleina here, but my username at IMDb was Jillian. Your names here are not familiar to me, did you use the same usernames and which board did you frequently use?

I know that Supernatural fans went to sites called Wayward Children and Sherlock/Benedict C. fans went to free forums..

@atomicreturns

i see them now. that's incredible. how did that happen?

aleina, don't worry about it -- "sloopy" and "sloppy" mix up happens all the time. My username came from someone accidentally typing "sloopy" instead of "sloppy" over and over again like 20 years ago.

To the poster asking if anyone here knew each other prior to here: Is everyone using the same name? I was Sloopydrew at IMDb. I posted all over the place. Literally thousands of posts over the nearly two decades. Of course IMDb oftentimes purged those posts, leaving me with something like 300 at the time they shut down.

I think I just met and have talked with people on here and never on IMDb before, and I've kept the same username as well.

That's not to bad though, it means we're already building up a community, however small. If it gives me the chance to converse with folks I hadn't crossed paths with before, I like that. We're all kind of getting the chance to craft this site how we want with our experience of being on IMDb and having the creator listen to us and take suggestions.

So, yes, hello "new" people ;)

The boards annihilation hasn't sat well with me as I had two of my siblings - my closest sibling, and my eldest one - die 6 weeks apart (both from cancer) during 2016, so this is like another loss and void to have to just accept and "deal" with.
