I couldn't agree more! Hooray For Us Believers!!!!!!

reply

well, that's 2

reply

The board seems pretty active to me... just saying. :)

reply

It is, really. Not only this board, but quite a few of the individual film and show boards as well.

reply

Yes, it seems they are constantly changing in the trending part. Game of Thrones seems to be super busy. I have to get caught up on that show so I can join in!

reply

The site seems pretty active in fact. It's not IMDb yet, but that's not a realistic expectation. Considering the site has only been up for half a year, it's doing remarkably well. The activity will only grow over time. I've noticed many times now that new accounts have sprung up to post on movie/TV boards.

reply

He quickly closed the thread,Dazed.I had a short conversation with him.

reply

So true.
We had another one last night or earlier this morning.
Yet we are .

reply

I've noticed that as well. And I'm less pleasant when responding to those threads! But I've stopped responding to them all together, I'm kind of tired of saying the same thing over and over.

Some of the "old guard" is still around, and new people keep popping up all over the place. I've also never had any run-ins with the oh so dreaded mods and I have a pretty high post count, plus, it's not as if I haven't had a couple of "political discussions"...

You either try to get it going, or you don't. I don't see what all the whining achieves!

reply

"I've stopped responding to them all together"
This is usually my preferred method. Last night I was just in a mood I guess.

"I've also never had any run-ins with the oh so dreaded mods and I have a pretty high post count, plus, it's not as if I haven't had a couple of "political discussions"

I'm sure you're on their radar Mina. You like to rock the boat don't you?

reply

Oh,come on...it's not a party until something gets broken😂😂

reply

I've missed that thread last night (or whatever time it was for me), and I can't find it! I'm not above morbid curiosity.

I am on their radar, but I've never gotten a warning or anything of the sort. When have I rocked the boat? I've missed that LOL

reply

Apparently the new thing is just to completely wipe out everything. Pretend it never happened.

alice and myself started responding to this person who was posting that this site will not grow etc....
A few minutes later it was deleted. Not sure who deleted it. I checked when I logged in tonight
and had 5 responses. None of which I could see because the whole thing was wiped out.
IMO it's a crappy way to handle this.

Oh, you're a boat rocker.
I'm just kidding Mina. I've never gotten a warning either .
You should know by now that I'm almost always joking or my perceived version of humor.
The only time I'm not joking is when I'm serious. :P

reply

Ooh! It's not a new thing. It happened to me a few month ago. I had a notification, but when I clicked it took me nowhere. It was right around the terror attacks in the UK (and something similar might have been the subject matter). I think it might be reserved for extreme cases.

I'm much the same way.
But you sent me on a minor existential quest for a bit there. Do better humour next time!

reply

I don't think we can compare terror attacks and " I don't think this site will grow."
If that's the case a very poor decision. IMO

For the record I did say "my perceived version of humor."
I think I'm hysterical. I have also found that I am in the minority in thinking this.
In fact I may be the only person who believes this.
I will do better. 😢

reply

If someone creates an account specifically for the purpose of trolling MC with pronouncements of the site's supposed impending failure, which is what happened in the case you mentioned, we are going to delete it.

By contrast, the various "mods suck" threads that were started by people with legitimate posting histories are still here for all to enjoy.

reply

lol. There are a lot of "mods suck" threads out there. I don't always agree but I do enjoy some
of them. Mostly because it's not me.

I get you don't want to promote "impending failure" but people did take the time to post
and reply. By doing it this way I feel it sends a bad message. I get you want to delete
the original posts but it says what everybody said is pointless. People may think their opinion
isn't valued. Think if you replied to 10 people and they never even had the chance to see
it. How would you feel ?

reply

Wouldn't bother me and, if I responded to an obvious troll thread started by a brand new user, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if my posts were removed along with the troll. It has happened to me on other sites more times than I can count.

reply

[deleted]

Your suspicions are well founded. 🙂

reply

[deleted]

Yes, it is. On the other hand, it's a positive because, once you remove He Who Must Not Be Named from the equation, 99.9% of the MC community are intelligent, funny and good-natured people who engage in very interesting and enjoyable discussion.

reply

[deleted]

Mod5 seems to be one of the cool kids.
Can they come to the next sleepover we have ?

reply

[deleted]

I'm wondering about this sudden, inexplicable pattern of mods posting, attempting to offer some input to a particular conversation and then almost immediately deleting the post. I just saw it again on the Rear Window board.

reply

Just checked it out. I've never seen that before.

reply

It is a pattern. It was addressed/questioned from the onset.

reply

There's nothing mysterious about it. It's a matter of "Whoops, I'm signed in with my mod ID." 😊 A couple of us have done this 3-4 times.

We prefer to keep in the background, and be as unobtrusive as possible, so everyone can enjoy themselves.

That's all there is to it.

reply

See, not only does your humour suck, but you got us in trouble! Who's rocking the boat now, Dewey? Who's rocking the boat now?

BTW, that's why I use "LOL" so much here. I'm pretty dead pan IRL, and I'm sure you know what _that_ leads to.

reply

Wow,stop fighting guys.

reply

We're just joking around, croft :). But we've definitely derailed this thread!

reply

Oh,well,Mina...it's not a party until something gets broken😉

reply

Fine. I am a rocker of boats. Are you happy now ?
You started it. You wait till mom finds out.
There will be TROUBLE. Make that a DOUBLE!!

I'm the same . I have to tell people a lot of the time i'm joking IRL.
I've had people tell me years later that they still believed what I told them.
I get a kick of watching peoples reactions.

reply

Yes, I'm very happy! But is Jim our mom here? It probably should be "wait until dad finds out."

It fun to see people's confusion sometimes... And I've been getting apologies lately, because people think they've offended me, when I've replied with a throwaway joke (from my POV). They should, too, get better senses of humour!

reply

Let's joke then,Mina😂😂...I love a good joke.

reply

Well, I can't tell you a _joke_ joke. It's "in the moment" type of thing...

reply

I can also read between words,Mina...call it a gift or a...curse😉

reply

[deleted]

It happens to me many times,Dazed😉

reply

Oh, yes, on the Internet even more so (we were talking about IRL). That's why I use the ever mocked LOL so much. It makes things clearer.

On that note, some scientists in Israel I think, have come up with a system? programme? a thingamajig, that deciphers sarcasm on the Internet! If it becomes really popular (or commercial?) it would be very useful.

Deliberate misunderstandings are always a hoot! (for half of those involved at least)

reply

"They should, too, get better senses of humour!"
Yeah, I know. You laid that one on me.

"But is Jim our mom here? It probably should be "wait until dad finds out."

I was trying to keep with vampire theme. To make you feel more comfortable.
So I borrowed part of it from Lost Boys.
My own brother, a goddamn shit-sucking vampire. You wait 'til Mom finds out.

With the latest thread I feel it's very presumptuous of you to assume Jim
is indeed a male. Check yourself.

reply

You still going with the "vampire" thing, aren't you godewey😂😂

reply

This goes back awhile.
She helped me discover my vampire name. So when she does turn me
I'll be all set.

reply

Let's just hope that day will never come, godewey😉

reply

Quoting a bunch of posers doesn't make me feel more comfortable! It's down right cultural appropriation, that is.

It's been too long since I saw Lost Boys, so that quote flew right over my head (not that you didn't notice).

Well, looks like I've wrecked myself! If Jim is indeed female, he should post a comment on MissMargo's thread and clear things up (I'm sure he doesn't have anything better to do, like building a whole site from the ground up).

reply

Posers, cultural appropriation - strong words. Our vamps could give yours a run for
their money.
How far you willing to go Mina.

BTW I did notice. You didn't even twitch. Then disappointment set in.

reply

The truth hurts, doesn't it, Dewey!

I'm willing to go all the way! I don't think your pussified vampires would fare very well against some proper Old World Mofos. Just the accents alone could turn the enemy into ashes!

As for the quote, I have brought great shame to my family name and I would never live this down!

BTW, we have totally derailed yet another thread!

reply

Truth? You can't handle the truth? That's a what we call a quote Mina.
Don't worry You'll get it. Baby steps.

Yeah real scary. Oh look at me I wear a cape, I sleep in a coffin, I live in a castle,
I'm from the old country. blah, blah, blah. About as scary as a goldfish.

It is a little shameful. The Vladimir name will never be look upon the same again.
I'm sure you got the quote in my previous post though. Hmmm. No you did. Hmmm

I'm really good at derailing threads. I'm not sure what the proper etiquette is but
I'm sure I shattered all rules there are. You're a pretty good derailer too.

reply

I don't even know where the quotes end and the Dewey begins anymore!

BTW, those capes and coffins are what _your_ people have done to my cultural heritage! That one's on you bud.

I know I'm a derailer, and I feel really bad about that (but I can't help it).

reply

I begin everywhere and nowhere.

Sorry we gave them a little swagger. Jealous much ?

I used to feel bad. Not so much anymore.

reply

what does IRL mean?

reply

In real life

reply

[deleted]

Some people might say you misspelled hilarious.
It should be spelled annoying.

reply

[deleted]

Oh yeah.
I keep forgetting that.

reply

[deleted]

Well,I had a conversation with a mod...once,it was a silly thing.

reply

Yup, if the mods were going on a rampage, we'd all be feeling it. I guess it depends on what kind of discussion a particular poster "gets off" on...

You guys really have it out for Arvin, huh? I think it's very unfair to put him in the same place as Ben! And that's all I'm going to say on that topic, since I wouldn't like to get in the middle of this thing.

But, yes, I don't see much point in complaining, if it's not bringing something constructive to the table. Shape up or ship out, as the expression goes.

reply

Complaining,Mina...no,discussing...yes,always😉

reply

[deleted]

I wouldn't say much has changed, except now troll infestations are dealt with quickly. Which is great by me. Other than that, I really think we are pretty much left to our own devices, for the most part.

reply

I too have only ever had positive interactions with the mods, in fact they have been great, helping me out with a situation where someone was stalking me across this site on any board I posted on, to post crap at me. IMDb never cared about that. The mods here actually do something when stuff happens. I love the mods here.

The only people who hate the mods here or think they are too heavy handed are the actual trolls who live to create the kind of trouble these mods don't permit. Simple.

reply

Agreed,prelude😉

reply

Hey Prelude, haven't seen you in General for a while. Welcome back!

reply

Hey there! I've been wandering around in the title-specific film and TV boards, trying to gee-up activity as much as I can! :)

reply

They say it and then find no decent alternatives.
