Organ meats


When I was a kid my mom used to make fried liver with onions, lamb tongue, and kidney saute for dinner. I don't think organ meat is even sold these days.

Did you ever eat these things?

Most organ meats are disgusting, but I used to get an order of deep fried chicken hearts from Brown's chicken whenever I went. Unfortunately, they don't offer that anymore. Some cultures believe that if you eat the heart of something, you gain its power, so I am probably the most chicken-hearted person alive!

Cold cuts from cow udder are a local speciality here in my hometown.

I used to eat liver sausage for variety's sake but it's been a while. Something else I've been meaning to try again. Liver sausage with mayo and Claussen pickles is good, also mustard and tomato.
