Do you donate blood?

I did today and I feel lightheaded. I did my duty.

reply

Good job. What's your blood type?
Fluids and minerals - you'll be right as rain.

reply

O neg

reply

Wow! Universal donor, right? Damn good job!

reply

exactly.

reply

If you need the money the majority of blood donation centers have no qualms about paying you for it. Just saying.

reply

that's illegal in Canada

reply

Oh. Okay. Still - it's commendable. Good man. "Ya otta gedda medal!"

reply

What do they pay in the US? Do you know?

reply

Not sure but it's naturally in high demand so I imagine it's more than a little. An internet search should be able to pull up a reasonable dollar amount.

reply

looks like it's between $20-50. all i got was two oreo cookies and a glass of juice.

reply

Quota.com says, depending on antigen factors and disease markers(?) between $600 and $12000!
Wow. That's crazy.

reply

That's for O- of course.

reply

Damn auto correct.

reply

No but I owe my life to those who do. Thank you.

reply

It's been years. I really should more often.

reply

I've been thinking it's time I started to again. Been a long time.

reply

Tis the season. Do you have two little marks on your neck?

reply

Used to all the time. Got my frequent donor card and all that too. Only passed out once because I was stupid and didn't eat. Now they don't want my blood. 😢

reply

you can't donate anymore?

reply

Can't donate in Canada with MS.

reply

Is it considered an infectious disease?

reply

Nope. And they figured that I had it for years before I was diagnosed and I donated during that time. But I guess once it's been diagnosed they don't want it.

reply

MS sucks. I'm sorry to hear that.

reply

Huge needles cause a nervous reaction in me. Translation : I've been known to faint... yep. Big tough guy.

reply

When we were shipped to Seoul I was 4. Since we had to live in the city, the Army inoculated us for Everything. I literally got stuck like a pincushion for two weeks. Still remember it. Pretty sure my problem is some form of PTSD. Really.
Hmm. Gotta charge my device. Been great talking with everyone. Bye.

reply

The same thing happened to me the last time I donated blood. I felt like I was going to pass out.

reply

I haven't done it in years but I always felt lightheaded when I did.

reply

I did it a few times in high school to get out of class. I should probably do it now and then.
