The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947)

reply

The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

reply

My parody name for that film is ' Internal Sunshine from the Spotless Behind '. Good movie though, if you don't mind more than a little aggravation mixed in with your romance.

reply

oooo Good one!

Conan the Barbarian (82) is the sweetest romance of all time and not imho...It's just the truth buddy

In each other Conan and Valeria found soulmates, they were free to reave and kill side by side and always had each other's back despite the odds...that's LOVE right there!

*SPOILERS!!!*

Valeria came back from HELL(!) after being poisoned to death by an Asp-Arrow to save her man when Conan was getting jacked up by Thulsa Doom's posse of armed riders

All of that silly Meg Ryan rom-com and tear-jerker Nicholas Sparks nonsense is total baloney!
A good man needs a tough woman to help him operate

Give me a gal that's ready to put the gig together and fight an army and I'm in love...Loyalty AND Baddass behavior from the Female lead=awesome romance

Everything you have said is right on but I’d like to add another dimension to it. This is not only the best love story of all time but it really highlights what we all know: your soulmate always brings out the best in you.

SPOILERS AHEAD :

What was Conan doing before he met Valeria? The man was hangin out with a thief, sleeping with nasty chics and always getting into fights. The dude was a bully and I’m pretty sure he punched a camel once. I mean yeah, he had a rough childhood and all with loosing his parents at a young age and pushing the wheel but he got a damn good education. But let’s admit it, he was going in the wrong direction until he met Valeria.

Everything changed for Conan the moment he met Valeria and I’d say he basically struck it rich that night. I don’t think they ever left each other’s side after that and I don’t think his best bud got jealous at all because he could tell she was good for him. He even started talking to Crom way more after they got together. I would say she went above and beyond that time Conan got sick and she nursed him back to health. Valeria really taught Conan to live in the moment and not to dwell on death. When they were together he was all about helping the community every day. He straight up went against Thulsa Doom, exposed that pedo priest, fought for animal rights, embraced diversity, returned a kidnapped kid and the list goes on. Conan turned into the kind of guy even modern day SJW types could support.

Anyone out there who has somehow missed this timeless love story needs to search it out but dont forget a box of Kleenex. Your going to need it.

Great romantic story and YES, a great dude requires a great woman to back him up and sometimes lead him the right way

I don't recall a kidnapped kid though...am I senile already?

reply

Aww, I’ve enjoyed this little exchange between you two. Romantic movies from dudes perspectives. I hate most rom-coms and I’ve yet to see Conan the Barbarian (gasp) but I’ll certainly give it a look see after reading your high opinions about it.

reply

LOL
I guess I was being a Yenta there but watch Conan some day, you may like it

reply

Not at all, I honestly thought it was really endearing! No sarcasm, I was being genuine.🙂
