Do You Watch the Credits After the Movie Ends?

I always do. I was reminded of it because the trending bar was showing some Bond movies. I went on youtube to listen to some of my favorite 007 themes. A few of the clips show the ending credits. And there I was...watching the ending of a movie that I hadn't even watched!

For one thing, I hate standing behind a crowd. The film ends and people stampede for the door like the place is on fire. So I always sit and watch the credits while the crowd moves out. And I still manage to get to the parking lot the same time as everyone else.

Another thing is my curiosity. I know the names of the stars of the movie. But there's always some character actor or two whose face I recognize. But I can't recall the name.
For half of the movie I am usually wondering, "Who IS that guy? Where have I seen that actress before?"

I also like to read all the names of the behind the scenes people. They never seem to get credit (or recognition) because their credits come at the end after everyone has left the theater.

And of course, where was it filmed? What were the locations? Who did the music? What were the names of the songs played in the film? And I like to listen to the title song if it's played again.

I do that with movies that I watch on DVD too. One of my biggest peeves is watching a movie on TV. The greedy stations need to squeeze out every second for commercials. Some movies have great closing credits and the stations cut them off. Or they run the names so fast that they are illegible. It's called a "crawl" for a reason. On TV today, it's more like a sprint.

DEPENDS ON WETHER MY DATE HAS FINISHED HER "JOB " YET.

reply

Okaaaaay...I was referring to people who sit in the dark to actually watch the movie. LOL

reply

I MULTI TASK.

reply

Only to get to the MCU post credit scenes.

reply

Yes, me too

Otherwise I race the hell out of there to avoid the traffic jam in the parking lot

reply

Yes, sometimes.
It depends on who I go with I have a friend who always wants to wait looking for a special something after the credits. She always has the hope for a post credits scene so we always wait when I go with her.

When she comes with me to a marvel movie I really appreciate her approach to that because I know there is always the post credits scene or scenes but with other films I’m not that happy on this approach.
I’m like really? It’s unlikely we are gonna have an extra scene but I still wait because she has waited with me when it comes to Marvel movies.

Sarmoviefan- Yes that's another thing! I forgot to mention it. Sometimes you miss something if you leave too soon.

I noticed that happening when I went to see "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" in 2011 with my sister. We just sat there spellbound. Many people left and missed the crucial scene at the end. Remember the disagreeable neighbor who had the nasty run in with Caesar? At the very end you see that he's an airline pilot...Don't want to say more. It's a spoiler

reply

I haven’t seen planet of the apes but I’m not picky with Spoilers. I’m not that much against knowing a few things.

reply

Tat's good Sarmoviefan-- I've seen some discussions here that are about movies which are 30 years old or more. People read the comments and write sarcastically, "Thanks for the spoiler alert!"

reply

Yeah it’s not such a big deal to me unless it was Endgame but since I already watched that I don’t mind spoilers at all.

reply

I do not.

reply

Yes, I do. Usually the credits just list the cast names and not the character they play. So, I check IMDB.com to be sure.

reply

That's another reason why I like the way they do the credits in all the Scream movies. The actors are pictured with their names.

reply

Rarely. Unless there's something kind of cool going on during the end credits, like the music is really good or there are some cool visuals.

reply

^ For me, the music alone is a good reason to stay. Even if the initial song or instrumental isn't that great, the follow-up sure might be.

reply

^This^

reply

Always. I know some people who work in the less glamourous side of the business.

Whenever I spot one of them in the credits, I let them know. They're always happy that I noticed.

But even when I don't, I find all the titles interesting and informative.

reply

There so many credits, moving so fast, I have little or no chance to read more than perhaps 10-15%.
I'm sure your friends in the biz are pleased with your praise and recognition, tho 😃

reply

I'm sure I've missed a few but I try.

the typical response: "You watch the credits?!?!"

Then they explain all the work they had to do, and I understand their title that much more

reply

Sometimes.
