I know most people usually try food or music and change their minds, but have any of you had the patience to go see a questionable movie over again and then enjoyed it?

Htichcock's "Vertigo". You may or may not like it at first viewing, but you can't really appreciate it until you can see the whole story through Judy's eyes.

I completely agree with your choice. When looking at Leone’s films The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), for example, struck me as amazing on the first showing. Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) took those multiple viewings for me to absorb it all. It’s really come around for me and now it feels like the superior film.
shareYes I agree, first views the films in my 20's...loved Good/Bad right away. Thought OUATW was good but not as good as GBU.
Upon repeated viewing throughout the years and a little more maturing on my part, I came to realize that the story/acting/cinematography is just much better.
With all of these I had a much greater appreciation of after repeat viewings:
The Devils (1971)
Once Upon a Time in the West (1968).
The Thin Red Line (1998)
Last Tango in Paris (1972)
Possession (1981)
Come and See (1985)
The Exorcist (1973)
I'm not sure I could see Possession again. That left me very unsettled for a week. The Devils was disturbing and heartbreaking, with Oliver Reed being completely magnetic.
shareI agree with you about Reed. The man is fantastic. I may need to add one more: Django (1966). I’ve seen it many times but always in English. I watched it tonight in Italian with English subs and the dialogue is quite different and it actually flows better. Loved it. 👍
shareEvery Wes Anderson movie. Not great the first time around but they always seem to get better with each subsequent viewing.
