Everybody should stop saying these things:

"I could care less"
"It's besides the point"
"Nucular"

Any others?

"Mr. Microphone" from Ronco. I remember that horrible commercial:

People can be "lax" in their vigilance
People can be "lackadaisical" in their attitude

But no one can be "laxadaisical."

What if they accidentally took too much ex-lax?

Oh yeah, "nucular"! Wrong pronunciation - word is nuclear! Seems many people do it, seems to be since George Bush said it that way?

"If you will"
"Dope" referring to something good.
Excessive use of "like" and "you know" when speaking.

I agree on "dope." It's really stupid and annoying.

Keep in mind:

The word “media” is plural. A statement like “the media is doing it again” is wrong.

The word “none” is singular. A statement like “None are doing that” is wrong.

“Hopefully” is an adjective, as in, “We entered hopefully into the program.” It DOES NOT MEAN “I hope.” If you want to say “I hope,” then SAY “I hope.” It is only 2 syllables, much shorter than “hopefully.”

I know. This is not popular vernacular usage. The majority is almost ALWAYS wrong. It is the correct usage.

Erudition: what a concept.

Footnote: the word erudite is pronounced “er-oo-dite” and not “err-ee-oo-dite.” The uncompleted film series, Divergent, completely screwed the pooch on this one.

"We entered hopefully into the program."

Wouldn't "hopefully" be an adverb, since it modifies the word "entered"?
